Downtown area cat sitter!
Pet care experience
** Huge cat lover, will gladly do cat drop-ins and cat/kitten boarding! ** Experience caring for rabbits, rats, hamsters and some bird species. I help transport dogs (and sometimes cats and rabbits) for rescues (Nunavut to Ontario), I’m responsible for them from drop off at the airport to arrival at destination, often including playing with them and walking them before boarding. I volunteer for the Iqaluit Humane Society/Nunavut Animal Rescue and Ferdinand and Friends Animal Rescue Network. I have short-term/emergency fostered (dogs, cats, rabbits) for the Humane Society. I regularly volunteer for Nunavut Animal Rescue; my tasks vary from caring for a wide range of dogs from small to XL, from two weeks of age to senior, as well as cats. I help with everyday shelter operations, such as admin work, laundry, cleaning kennels, walking dogs, playing with the puppies, fundraisers, etc. I love going for long tundra hikes with the more energetic rescue pups. Cold weather does not bother me at all. I have experience volunteering at spay and neuter clinics, as well as general vet clinics in remote areas. This has given me a panoply of experience with more fearful animals, limited resources, first aid, medication knowledge, etc. * As of January 1, 2024, $1 from every confirmed and completed booking will be donated to Ferdinand and Friends Animal Rescue Network. The donation will be made in a lump sum on December 31, 2024. If you’d like to donate extra, I encourage you to check out their social media or contact me for ways to donate! -2023 donation went to Iqaluit Humane Society/Nunavut Animal Rescue: $128 I grew up with cats, so I love doing kitty drop-in visits. I’ve also owned budgies and hamsters. I’m open to caring for other types of animals, please contact me to discuss! Certifications: * Certified in Pet CPR and First Aid. * Human St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid - CPR C & AED. * Can provide certificate proof, if requested. General: * I am fully bilingual French/English. * I currently do not have any pets in my home. * I do not feed raw food. * I will consider services outside my radius for an extra travel fee of $9 per visit/walk. * May take up to 4 hours to respond to messages on work (non-available) days due to the nature of my work. Cat drop-ins: * I do a daily scoop of the litter box, refresh the water every visit and feed as per instructions. I will send at least a couple photos every visit in the Rover card, typically more. * I can administer oral medication. * I can give insulin injections to easygoing cats. * I have experience with shy cats and all have eventually come around. If they’re shy, I feed them treats and I give them their space and sit in the same room as them for the remainder of the visit and play calming music. * For the more active and social cats, I’ll pet them, play with them, brush them and just generally interact with them for the remainder of the visit. I sometimes bring cat toys from home to change things up (wand toys, catnip toys, etc). * Low additional cat rate ($4/cat). Cat boarding: * I provide the litter box, cat litter, various toys, brushes, food bowls, etc. * Owners must bring food, and I recommend bringing an old t-shirt for a smell from home. * I have a set-up for kitten boarding. * Will provide 1-2 updates a day, with photos. * Your cat(s) will be the only animal in the home. * I generally use Feliway to help make their transition to my home less stressful. Dog walks: * I only walk dogs from one family at a time. This allows my focus to be fully on your dog(s), and is good for dogs that are reactive to other dogs. * Ensure that any dog over 44lbs in Gatineau have their required harness/halter as per the by-law. In addition to a leash no longer than 6 feet. * I may use my own leashes and/or Halti. Housesitting: * I may be away for up to 4-6 hours at a time. * Pups will get at least two long walks a day, or their usual amount of exercise. * I strive to leave the home as clean, or cleaner than when I arrived.
Reviews
Stephanie was great! She made a real connection with mi cat Tomasa and was able to sense her needs as if she´s known her for a while, from the very first time! She went the extra mile with other details which are much appreciated. Highly recommend and super thankful.
My cat loved Stephanie and she followed her care instructions perfectly!!! She sent us photos and video updates everyday. My cat was treating her like her new mom!!! I had no anxieties leaving my precious baby with her. Thank you Stephanie ❤️
Stephanie is great and reliable. She has looked after our cats many times and it is always a great experience.
Stephanie was very communicative and responsive, which I really appreciated. She took patient care of my skittish kitty, and was very respectful of my home. No complaints; will be asking for her help again for future trips away.

Information Stephanie C. would like to know about your pet
Any behavioural issues, aggressions of any type, any fears, any health issues, any allergies, do they have a muzzle, are they housetrained, can I feed them treats, how are they around children and other dogs (in the event that we see some while out walking), what commands do they know.
A typical day
While under my care, I like to take them on walks (I’ll gladly accommodate 60 minute walks), play with them and hang out. We have many beautiful parks and green spaces in the city, if there’s one nearby, I usually take advantage and walk them there.
