Pet care experience
Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, and I’ve often been called dog obsessed. I grew up in an animal loving family (on a farm) with dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, and goats, where I was responsible for the training and care of the animals. Fascinated with dogs from a young age, I used to pour over dog breed books learning everything I could about the different breeds and their personality traits. My heart is in rescuing and fostering senior and at risk dogs. My passion for rescuing neglected, adult dogs was born after adopting our first family dog when I was seven - Joe was a formerly abused Whippet / Jack Russell Terrier mix. As soon as I moved out of the college dorms I adopted Bonnie, the Greyhound, from a Mobile AL racetrack from a life of physical and emotional abuse. It was a long road to get her healthy and confident, and it has truly been the most rewarding experience. It’s now been four years since I adopted her and she is my best friend and accompanies me everywhere, from simple errands like Trader Joe’s to going to work with me every day. True to her breed, she enjoys couch time more than any other activity, but also enjoys leisurely walks, beach time, and hikes. She is extremely calm and mild mannered. Shortly after I adopted Bonnie I adopted a cat, Mr. Pickles, to help with her separation anxiety. He and Bonnie have become best friends, and most often they can be found snuggling on the bed or couch together. Mr. Pickles is very much a “dog cat,” preferring to spend his time among the pups. Tinkerbell, the Chihuahua, I rescued when she was twelve years old (she is now fourteen). Her past is a mystery, but she was extremely underweight and had a bad skin infection when I adopted her. She is 3.2 lbs of pure cuteness and inquisitiveness. She is happiest on a lap watching her surroundings or “scavenging” for crumbs. She is not a “yappy” chihuahua, I’ve actually only ever heard her bark once in her sleep. She is an old lady that loves lounging in the sun. As a consistent foster mom, I'm very experienced with properly introducing new dogs into the home in order to ensure success and happy fur-sibling relationships. Bonnie, Tinkerbell, and Mr. Pickles are extremely easy going and dog friendly! I am truly in awe of dogs and simply love caring for them and forming relationships. I promise to provide a loving home for your dog(s) while you are out of town and fill their time with me with tons of doting and the activities that they love. I hope to get a chance to care for your pup!
Reviews
Stephanie is very personable and great with all animals. She took amazing care of my girl and constantly updated. Will be reaching out again when I need a sitter . Thanks so much
Stephanie was great with our Golden Retriever, Odie. Throughout his stay she updated us with, pictures, videos, and descriptions of what they were doing. She took him to a dog park to play with a tennis ball, which is his favorite. He got a little muddy so she also gave him a bath. We could not be happier with Stephanie and will definitely be using her again in the future.
Stephanie was great in taking care of Mumford! She kept us updated often with pictures and videos. Mumford came back very happy and tired from playing with Stephanie's other pets. We highly recommend Stephanie!
