Pet care experience
Although we are relatively new to caring for dogs, we have had cats and birds for years. We have babysat and fostered dogs since mid-2017 and now have our own sweet adorable 2 y.o. girl named Rubie since 1/6/18. She has graduated Obedience classes 1 and 2. I have a flexible schedule and am off Mondays and Fridays, so we are very available Fridays through Mondays and would love to take the dog for mile-long walks around the MHC lake, on hikes in the area, or to the Granby dog park if big run area is needed. While I do work Tuesdays and Thursdays, we will have someone in the house in the mornings and afternoons, so the dog would be alone only up to 4 hours. I work all day Wednesdays, but it can be arranged 3 weeks in advance that I return around noon or 1 pm to check on the dog. Our 7 year old daughter is very interested in getting to know different dogs, playing with them, and tossing them their toys. Our 12 y.o. diabetic orange cat is shy (we administer his insulin shots) and will stay away from the dog initially, but hopefully come out later to say hi to your pup. We also have a large fenced front yard, and unfenced backyard and for the leashed dog to explore. We are vetted foster parents for Dakin and Rainbow Rescue. I am a part-time psychotherapist.
Reviews
Very patient during our meet and greet. Responsive to our dogs needs- she didn’t want to leave! Brought to my attention a lump they found on her during her stay. Highly recommend.
Rubie and Milo had a great and playful weekend together, plenty of exercises. Stephanie sent updates daily and took excellent care of him. Would definitely recommend to others.
Stephanie was great. She kept Peter very active and provided daily photos and info about how the day went. It was like he was on his own little vacation.
Stephanie and Ben did an excellent job of caring for our dear little 4 lb Yorkshire Terrier, Gatsby. Gatsby stayed with them for 10 days and he was lavished with attention the entire time. He attended a softball game, went for walks on the bike trail, and even attended a poetry reading. Stephanie and Ben texted or posted daily pics of Gatsby, which made me feel at peace that he was alive and well, and most importantly, in very good hands. When I picked him up, he seemed well adjusted and happy. In the past, Gatsby has had bouts of diarrhea and vomiting after staying in kennels or even with other families. With Stephanie and Ben, he came home happy, healthy, and free of digestive problems. This tells me he had a stress free stay with this lovely family. I highly recommend Stephanie and Ben (and Lyra) if you're looking to leave your dog with someone you can trust.
