Charismatic Canine & Kitty Caring

Pet care experience

Se habla Español. Nederlands sprekend. For as long as I can remember, I've been an animal lover. I thought for many years I would be a vet, I even spent months volunteering at a vet clinic but I ended up becoming a research scientist (humans need love too :) ). Salsa (chocolate Lab babe) was in the family for 13.5 glorious pup years and I was devastated the day we lost her. One day, we'll bring home another pup to love, but until then, I'll care for yours while you're away. When I was a 3 year old, I fell in love with a silver shaded Persian kitty and my dad brought her home. Her name was Lacy and I loved her for 18 years. Since Lacy, our family has loved Jazz, Diva, Reggae, Samba, Tango, Calypso, Luna, Keyla (all kitties!). It's safe to say, we're pet people. I believe that pets are part of the family. I understand the concerns and stresses of travel and schedule conflicts that may leave your loved one unattended for an uncomfortable period of time. I'm still picky about who I leave my meow-friends with. I like to focus my "calm assertive energy" when hanging around pups (I call all dogs pups- big, small, old, young, don't care, they're all pups to me). I'm confident that I'm able to care for your pup or kitty, provided I'm given proper instruction (especially regarding any special care or particular eating regimens). I am trustworthy, caring, friendly, and will treat your loved one like family.

Stephanie was absolutely fantastic to work with. We left out of town for 5 days and trusted our dog with her care. She was very attentive to messaging us with updates, providing photos AND videos, and taking care of the pup. I would trust her again to watch our dog and know he would be in great hands!

Stephani is great with communication every step of the way from initiating our first visit to when and how her visits went. Both of my cats trusted her immediately. I was happily surprised to see her interacting with my cat, Nala, in her Rover cards. Nala won't even come out for my mom who has babysat her numerous times. I will certainly be a repeat client of Stephani!

We used Rover for the first time to find a sitter for our cat for six days and nights. We instantly liked Stephani when we met her. She did an excellent job taking care of Mr. Kitty for us. And Mr. Kitty who is a very docile cat but wary of strangers warmed up to her immediately. Stephani was prompt and reliable. She sent us pictures and videos each time she dropped by to show us our happy cat! We were extremely pleased with this service and will not hesitate to call on Stephani again to sit with her new friend. Highly recommend.

Information Stephani P. would like to know about your pet

Before I come into a client's home, I like to meet them and their furry friend(s) to get a feel for the dynamic between owner and pet as well as see their normal behavior. Communication is key for me so before I'm solo, I may ask a lot of questions just to make sure we are all clear on everything. Of course, I'm not looking to receive any on-the-job injuries, so it's important to me that my client's pet is obedient and can handle being around new faces. I appreciate when a pup obeys verbal commands (sit, stay, no, etc). If you've trained your kitty this way-- wow, props! I use verbal cues and body language, not physical discipline. I have a low tolerance for bad behavior (eating furniture, jumping up and scratching me, biting, barking at me over and over) but I'm flexible and I understand that breed and age play a large role in their behavior, and that they have a mind of their own. I'm unable to provide care in my own home, as I have two kitties who don't take well to new furry buddies. I have experience caring for animals in their own environments and it usually works out even better that way as it avoids a huge change for them.

A typical day

“Petting, scratching, and cuddling a dog could be as soothing to the mind and heart as deep meditation and almost as good for the soul as prayer.” -Dean Koontz This quote pretty much sums it up for me. The relationship between man and dog is something so unique and special and we are all fortunate to share time with these precious animals. I think this extends to cats as well. It's hard for me to decide if I'm more of a cat person or a dog person. I love them all! When I'm pet-sitting, we basically just hang out together and keep each other company. I'll take instruction from the owner and try to make your pup or kitty feel as comfortable as if his/her mommy/daddy is still there. I give your pets the attention they deserve and need. I play with them when they want to play, take them out when they need to go, feed them what they need (treats are given too, of course), and provide lots of water. I'll be sure to walk them according (probably no kitty walking) to their usual walking routine and keep things are normal as possible while providing some love on the side.
