House and Pet Sitting in One

Pet care experience

We have combined 40 years (9 with Rover and Wag) of experience dog sitting (and also cats, birds, lizards, monkeys, pigs and chickens) for family & friends, from small Pomeranians to large German Shepherds from a few months old to 13 years old. We also had a small furry best friend for 14 years, so LOVE dogs (cats are doable if they’re extremely friendly and indoor/outdoor) and am so happy for any dog-time we can get. We can do home care (watering plants and mail pickup) as needed for overnights to make sure no one knows you're out of town (note that my partner keeps me company for overnight visits). We enjoy taking the pups to nearby dog parks or just running around the block and of course our specialty of cuddling/lounging on the sofa. Hope to make new furry friends where we can. Overnight bookings are in increments of 24h (ie begin and end at 3pm). Cancellation policy is extremely flexible - one day.

We are so lucky to have found Stanley (and Thanh) as our dog sitters. They recently stayed with our old lady dog for over two weeks while we were out of the country and they provided phenomenal care for her as well as our home (including yard and garden watering) and even dealt with an ant invasion. Over the years they’ve cared for our dogs, they have provided the highest quality care- basics of food and walks, but also medical care (multiple medications, bandage changes) and they truly have cared for our dogs even better than we do (which is hard to do!). I trust them fully to care for our dogs and home!

We have been booking pet care for our dogs through Thanh (https://www.rover.com/members/thanh-n-house-and-pet-sitting-in-one/), Stanley’s partner, for the last 2 years and have been really pleased with her services. Because he always accompanied her on her bookings, we felt confident booking him when she requested that we book through him. She noted that they were working on transitioning her account to his. When we booked, we were assured that the level of care would not change, but this unfortunately was not the case. The Good: We found out a few days before leaving on our trip that our puppy would need eye drops 3x a day + be in a cone for the entire time he was watching them. We were really grateful that Stanley accommodated this, and administered the drops to her while we were gone. Our concerns: On the last night of our booking, I took a quick look at our outdoor camera to see if a package had been delivered, but noticed that our 8 month old puppy had not been let out for 6 hours, when our instructions requested that she be let out every 4 hours. These instructions were shared with him at the time of booking, and again 3 days before the stay. So our expectations should have been very clear. After witnessing this, I took a look at our outdoor camera system which raised a few more concerns. - Prior to booking, our conversations with Stanley and Thanh led us to assume that Thanh would still be the primary caregiver, but she was not present at the booking for the majority of the time. - Without getting into too many details, it was clear that our instructions were not followed by Stanley, especially as it related to our puppy and the amount of time she was to be let out to relieve herself. - Not dog related, but from a home front, we asked Stanley to take our 3 bins out to the curb (also shared in the previously mentioned instructions), and for some reason, he only took one of them out. - Also from a home front, he did strip the bedsheets, but left his wet towel on our mattress. He also left a few dishes in the sink, which we would have appreciated a heads up on. TL/DR: I have met Stanley twice in person, and while he is a very nice person and has technically been around for my dogs' care in the past, I can not recommend him as a dog sitter on his own.

Stanley and Thanh are fantastic sitters who take such good care of our girls. We are so lucky to have them and feel totally at ease when we need to leave our dogs, knowing they're in great hands. They are timely with communication, send plenty of photos, and follow all instructions to a T. We can't recommend them strongly enough!
