Keeping them safe and happy

Pet care experience

Thank you for considering us to take care of your family member(s)! My fiancé, Dan, and I only provide services for one pet family at a time so we can guarantee that your pet(s) will receive all of our attention without having to worry about how they'll get along with any other pets. We live near the end of a cul-de-sac in a quiet neighborhood. Our back yard is very small, but fenced in, and mostly used just for late night potty breaks. Dogs that stay with us will be walked at least 3 times daily, but usually 4-5. I really enjoy making at least one of those daily walks a longer destination walk involving a car ride to the state park, or anywhere that may be your dog's favorite place to go. Personally I have found the quickest and best way for me to bond with a new pup is to walk together, and often. This also helps keep their stress levels down while they are adjusting to a new environment. Our priority is your pet(s)' routine and needs. Our availability alternates weekly due to our work schedules and we only accept bookings for boarding on days that pups will be left alone for a maximum of 4 hours. I cannot usually respond to messages while on at work, but please be assured that you will hear from me as soon as possible. Pets that stay in our home MUST be currently on a flea/tick preventative and must be allowed on the furniture. We look forward to meeting you and your pet(s)!

Stacy and Dan were AWESOME! I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Stacy and Dan. Their communication was superb. They were extremely attentive to Remy's needs and they made sure she (and I) felt comfortable throughout Remy's entire stay. I so appreciated the pictures they sent of Remy on her many activities (walks on the beach, trail hikes, etc.) I would recommend Stacy and Dan to anyone looking for someone to watch their dog!

Stacy and Dan were so wonderful with my rescue pup!!! They took her for awesome adventure walks, loved on her 24/7, and sent photos throughout her stay. My dog told me she had a simply wonderful time with her new pals. Thanks for exceeding our expectations, Stacy and Dan!

Stacy and Dan are amazing! They took care of our 14 month golden retriever Hazel and treated her as their own. Stacy updates you daily on their adventures and always included photos. We didn’t worry about her once the entire time we were gone! I would highly recommend them as their love for dogs is shown the second you meet them!

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet's safety is always the highest priority. For this reason we aren't willing to do some things we did with our own dogs, such as walk off lead and try new treats. And unless you request that we let your pup meet other dogs on walks because they are very social, this is kept to a minimum due to the fact that we don't know them like you do and can't predict how they will react to other dogs. We also keep our home pretty darn puppy proof.

Information Stacy G. would like to know about your pet

We'd like to know as much about your dog(s) as possible. Most importantly what their normal routine is, what they can and can't eat, medications they take, vet they go to, and what their favorite things to do are. We'd also like to know if there are any behaviors you are trying to encourage or discourage and what methods you are using to achieve those goals so we can help your dog(s) with consistency. Honestly, if you are the kind of pet parent that doesn't allow your dog(s) on your furniture, we're probably not the best fit for you. There is nothing at all wrong with that rule. It's just not us and we don't want to confuse your dog(s) by breaking the rules at our house. If you'd like them to stay in our home, they MUST be currently on flea/tick preventative. We have never had any fleas in our home and intend to keep it that way. We do ask to meet and greet all new clients with their dog(s) in a public place before a stay and give them a short pet profile to fill out, which they leave with us once the stay begins. It helps ensure the dogs think we smell good enough to them and that we have all the information we need to keep pets safe and happy during the stay.

A typical day

Carolina Beach State Park is my favorite destination walk, especially during summer, because of the shade some of the trails provide. I also tend to walk dogs at Fort Fisher or around the lake at Carolina Beach in the mornings and evenings. I use a collapsible dish and carry water during walks. When weather is bad, I shorten walks in favor of more indoor playtime. Just let us know what your pet's favorite things are and we'll provide the time to do them. We have a raised water dish for the tallest of dogs, custom stairs for those with bad hips to get up onto our over-sized couch, and an Orvis Tempur-pedic dog bed (in case they don't care to share our bed). In fact, we prefer dogs to be on our couch and our bed. It's just so much easier to snuggle that way! We only board/walk 1-2 dogs from the same family at a time, so we can be sure to give everyone the attention they need.
