Heads & Tails - a doggy's delight!
Pet care experience
Woof! Woof! and welcome to Heads&Tails! We are so glad you stopped to sniff around. Please feel free to contact us with any questions that aren't answered here. :-) *****While our baby was a baby, we limited our dog sitting to the more laid-back guests (think Bassett Hound or 4 year old Great Dane) and it turns out we loved it! We prefer the big, lazy...er, I mean "laid back" pups around over some of the more energetic guys (think 1-year old boxer or some labs) who are just a bit too overwhelming for our daughter. So if your pup(s) like to run for a few minutes, take a nap, watch the squirrels out the window, cuddle a bit, take a nap, eat a little snack and stroll through the yard, then take a nap, run for 5 minutes, then go to bed for the night...We're the vacation spot for her! If your dog is higher energy, please feel free to ask, but please understand that we want everyone to have a good time and sometimes that means we need the right mix of playfulness and downtime :-)**** Our home has plenty of room inside to lounge and a large fenced-in backyard with lots of trees so your doggy will have plenty of options to rest or romp on his or her vacation! We have a teen son who adores dogs and an elementary age daughter who loves to cuddle. Our big boy, Bear, recently crossed the rainbow bridge, but I just can't bring myself to take him off our profile yet. We loved helping the many foster dogs who come visit on their ways to their fur-ever homes and are comfortable with many different personalities and quirks. At least one of us is home almost all day to make sure your pup settles right in! Our house and yard are "dog-proofed" for larger dogs so we prefer **60 lbs. or greater** (though smaller could be considered if they are particularly low-energy or wide and won't try to sneak under/through the fence.) For everyone to have a great experience on vacation, we expect that all guests will be child-friendly, vaccinated (including Bordetella) & current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, house-trained, and dog-friendly. PLEASE HIGHLIGHT if you dog is NOT SPAYED/NEUTERED. We may be able to accommodate him/her, but I need to know in advance. While supervised (the large majority of the day) we normally let the dogs come and go as they please between the house and backyard through a dog door. At bedtime and if we need to go out for a few minutes (school pick-up, etc.) we have generally let the foster dogs we don't know and dogs we know are chewers or have had accidents in the house hang out in the yard, ride along with us in the car or be crated inside the house or confined to a "temptation-free" area of the house like the laundry room. If you are concerned about your dog being able to handle the responsibility of coming and going as he/she pleases, please notify us prior to making a reservation so we can jointly figure out a plan that will meet everyone's needs. Thanks for you interest and we look forward to hearing from you and your furry friends!! Woof! We are happy to offer the following services: (If you need something customized, please ask!) -Spending the night in OUR home: $39 for the first dog; $35 for each additional dog in the family. Rates are for 24 hours. -Doggy Daycare in our home: $ for 2-6 hours; $for 6+ hours -30 minute walk/play/potty break in your home: $30-45 depending on distance and services needed -other pet visit (cat/fish/hamster/other) in your home: $depending on distance and what is needed -pick up/drop off: $25 for 10 miles/20 minute drive or less -vet visit/grooming visit: $ -bath: $ (please let us know if you have a special shampoo) -regular drop off and pick up hours are between 8am and 10pm by appt. We can be available earlier or later for a $5 charge Why I love dog sitting I've been a dog lover all my life. We always had a couple pups growing up and my husband and I have continued that trend. We've been happy to foster over 100 dogs for a few days-a few weeks at a time while they were waiting on their rides up North to their fur-ever homes. (This means we've had lots of practice dealing with lots of personality quirks and issues too!) We especially love the big ones - their hearts are as big as their heads :-) - though we've definitely met some big dogs in littler bodies too! About my yard We have a about 1/2 of our 1/2 acre property fenced with a split-rail fence with the square wire (sort of like chicken wire) inside. About 1/3-1/2 is grass and the rest is woods/mossy area. There is a lot of shade and depending on the time of day a few sun beams to bask in. The deck provides a nice vantage point to rest and keep an eye on the woods below. My experience administering medication Yes! I am a nurse as well so I am comfortable with pills, shots, creams, etc. If your dog needs medication, please include written instructions about how it is to be given and stored at drop-off
Reviews
Stacy was awesome! She came thru for us at the last minute and was super with communication. Coco had a blast with her!
Ollie just finished a 3 weeks stay with Stacy, I received tons of videos/pictures on a daily basis. Stacy really makes each guest to be part of the family and I can see Ollie received a lot of loves during his stay. This is the place you and your furry friend will love and enjoy!
Thanks for taking such great care of Buddy and Rags. They said they had a great time!!
Stacy took a great care of Mini, sending us updates and pics and administering medication as prescribed, so that we could enjoy our trip knowing our baby is in great hands and most importantly is having a great time.

Our girls are happy to show your pup the fun yard and comfy beds. We typically leave the dog door open into fenced yard if you think they can handle the responsibility.

We expect all guests to be -child-friendly (we have a teen son who is coming along nicely in his dog smarts and an elementary age daughter is learning the ropes as well) and -up-to-date on all vaccines (including bordetella) and flea/tick/heartworm medicine (we have woods so we see an occasional tick in the warmer months - though never attached to our dog - his tick spot treatment works well. Just ask if you need a dose!) -please highlight to me if your dog is not spayed or neutered We'd like to know your dog's: -vet information -feeding schedule and amount -any medicines/other special needs -typical schedule (time to bed and out in am, sleep in crate/on bed/etc.) -any personality "things" (separation anxiety, barking/whining, dominant behavior, aggression, jumping/digging under fences, laid back, etc.) -spay/neuter status We are open to any and all breeds - though our house is "dog-proofed" for about a 60+ lb dog. If your pups are smaller than 60lbs, please talk to us about their energy level and how wide they are to see if they might still be able to fit nicely into our household.

Here's where we'll take our walks We live in Knightsbridge neighborhood. There is a sidewalk on the busy street. Most dogs are happy to burn off energy playing in the fenced backyard. Your dog's sleeping arrangement If you think your dog can handle the responsibility, he or she can sleep in the carpeted den either on his or her bed or can borrow one of our beds or the dog couch. We also have dog crates/blankets available or can close off the laundry room so there are fewer "temptations". If he or she prefers outside or the garage, that's fine with us too - as long as the weather is reasonable, of course! Time I'll spend with your dog A lot! Someone is home at least 90% of the day most days. When we go out to run errands, etc. it is generally not longer than 2-3 hours.
