Welcome to the Crooked Rooster Dog Resort! Going to the Nevada County Fair, the Bluegrass Festival, Worldfest, Draft Horse Classic, or another event? We are 10 minutes away from the Nevada County Fairgrounds! I have taken care of dogs, my own, and for friends and family since I was ten years old. I love dogs and often find myself walking down the street, forgetting to make eye contact with people while I'm smiling at their dogs! I'm working on that. :) I board and love dogs, and my furry loves are well-socialized with other dogs. My friend recently told me, "You guys are the most loving dog whisperers ever." Does your dog need socialization? Does your dog like hanging out with other dog friends? We have a two-acre fenced-in property with a dog door and chickens behind a high fence in our orchard. We call it "Chicken TV." We also have a horse next door. Our friends call our home a dog resort! They are ready to play with yours! Our dogs have more of a social life than we do, as their other dog friends come and go, and they are well-socialized with other dogs and people. Stacey‘s place is perfect for our dog Zoe who loves to explore and run in a comfy home setting. She came home happily exhausted! I also appreciated Stacey’s attentiveness to communication and doggy care. We hope Zoe can stay again if we need a sitter.
Our dog had a wonderful time on Stacey’s and her family’s two acres. Stacey and her family are super sweet, accommodating, and responsive. She treated our dog like family.
Stacey's home isn't just dog care and boarding; it is camp. It is the dog equivalent of the ideal summer camp we all wish we could have gone to as kids. It has all the elements of joy... games, water play, friends, curious smells and sounds, and the freedom and amply space to run around just because. Although my dogs are not the most gracious house guests (because labs), they are treated like family. They are not only cared for, they are loved, even when they aren't on their best behavior (because labs). Thank you Stacey for creating this wonderful space that is so kind and doggie-centered. I highly recommend giving your dog the gift of spending some time at camp... your dog will be safe, loved, and happy here.

Please note that our summers sometimes have fires in the area and I’ll need to know your wishes if we have to evacuate in an emergency.

If I open the gate, will they run from me? Your dog's personality will not be a deal-breaker; I want to know how best to take care of your dog!
A typical day
Your dog can run the property with mine or swim in our pond when it's hot outside. We have a forest glen with tons of sticks and fun things to smell, and beyond that, an entire meadow where they can frolic and watch the neighborhood go by.

Knowing what to expect and having a general idea of when to expect it helps give your pets a sense of security. Routine is comforting for them. Your dog can rely on me to provide them with food, water, a safe place to sleep, and exercise. Providing for your dog's biological needs is the first step in building a bond with them. I work out of the home Tuesday through Friday, but my husband is often working from home.
