Loving, Pet-obsessed Care for You!

Pet care experience

My earliest memory: Crawling after our Lab and German Shepherd, panting and copying them because I wanted to be a dog. My life as a pet-obsessed nerd has culminated in my current job as a dog bather in a grooming salon. Growing up with llamas and horses, years of watching Animal Planet, reading about careers with animals, and wishing I could be magically transformed into a dog have all led me to this moment. Animals are my life, and I’m not ashamed to say so. I understand how important a dog is to a family, and I know how far a pet parent will go to make sure their furry child is happy and healthy. That’s where I come in! These days, I have a dog and two cats. My pup follows me more than my own shadow does. I always try and figure out ways to bring my dog with me wherever I go. Car rides, trips to the beach, outdoor shopping centers--I love to get creative, and branch beyond the dog park as often as possible. Where does your dog love to go? I’ll try my hardest to work it into our schedule. When we get home, my two friendly cats are there to welcome us and join a cuddle pile. They get along wonderfully with my dog, but if your pup needs some alone space, I’ll take care of that too! I work with all kinds of dogs in my work in a grooming salon. I recognize the body signs a dog gives when they’re stressed, and know what signals to monitor and which indicate the need for medical intervention. Thanks to my job, I'm used to fun parts of dogs, and the slightly gross parts. Nothing really fazes me when it comes to dogs! My first priority is making sure they are safe and happy. Being away from my own pup can make me anxious, so I go out of my way to make sure that you know exactly how your pet is doing and to stay connected from afar. I’ll send messages and pictures, and even call and let you talk to your dog if you’d like. For me, seeing my dog and knowing she's happy and healthy is paramount, so I’ll do everything I can to reassure you--and give you a peek into our playtime, walks, and downtime. I have experience with other animals too, so if you have other pets, get in touch! I'm especially excited to work with dogs. It's simple, but I take so much joy from being a pet sitter. Even if there are days where we all just want to fall back and relax, having a dog just seems to fill me with energy to get back up and keep going.

Sophie did a great job taking care of our animals and our house while we were gone. Such a relief to be able to leave our animals where they are comfortable and know that they are cared for! Thank you!

Sophie is an experienced dog sitter who I have trusted with my large lab many times. He's big and excitable with other animals but Sophie really knows how to handle him. My dog also has partial paralysis of his larynx and requires medication and special handling when walked and Sophie is always on top of taking care of him to make sure he is comfortable and happy.

Sophie is sweet as pie and my dog loves her more than me! She is so thorough and sensitive to my dogs needs emotionally and aesthetically. I wouldn't trust my girl with anyone else <3

Sophie is excellent and attentive. Whenever I leave my dog with her I never have to worry, I know she's in good hands with Sophie. I wouldn't trust anyone else to watch my dog.

Information Sophie U. would like to know about your pet

The first thing I'll want to know about any pet I'm watching: what do they truly dislike? For example, my dog is sweet, loves to cuddle, and loves people and other dogs. However, if you take her on a walk, you gotta be careful for skateboarders since she hates them with a burning passion! I want to know what makes your dog happy, scared, or otherwise causes her to react strongly. From there, we’ll plan our meet-and-greet and lay the groundwork for a successful stay. I’m happy to work with all breeds. I’m especially familiar with the general behavior and temperament of terriers, so I’m always thrilled to have them in my care. I'll ask about places your pup likes or doesn't like; whether they’re very energetic during walks, or calmer; and what kind of schedule and hours your family follows. If your pup gets anxious with other dogs, I'd think of a quiet, less used part of my area to walk. Or, if they’re super outgoing, we’ll hit the dog parks! All the insight you can give me will help us maximize our fun and minimize our stress.

A typical day

It will all depend on your usual routine, but here’s a typical day for our household: Mornings start with getting up and going on a quick walk, followed by breakfast. I’ll work through the morning, with the pets sticking nearby as they play and relax. We go out for a potty break around noon. Afternoons are filled with potential! Dog parks, the dog beach, or even something as simple as one-on-one playtime at home. If your pup has obedience classes, grooming appointments, or medical needs, we’ll attend those. Then dinner, followed by another bathroom break. As we approach evening, we’ll start to wind down after the busy day. Right before bed we go for one last potty break, and then we'd both go to sleep.
