5+ years experience with all dog breeds and sizes

Pet care experience

I have a Level 2 Canine First Aid certification and completed courses in Canine Body Language, Canine Enrichment, Dog Walking, and Pet Sitting. My love for animals started early, growing up with hamsters, guinea pigs, and a beloved Pitbull/Staffie mix. Over the past five years, I’ve worked with dogs of all breeds, temperaments, and personalities within a dog daycare. This includes energetic pups, older dogs, as well as anxious and rescue dogs. Living with a fear-reactive rescued Staffy for 15 years provided me with hands-on experience not only with older dogs but also with fear-based reactivity and health issues such as kidney failure and arthritis. Since then, I've adopted two dogs from Greece that weren't familiar with living indoors. Helping them overcome their fear of other dogs and men, as well as adjusting to their new life by learning to trust and receive affection, has taught me a great deal about rescues and dogs in general, particularly those with past trauma. I’ve also helped family members with dog walking, sitting, and training, and I’m continually learning more about how to care for, understand, and communicate with dogs

Piper enjoyed her first ever night away from us - a practice night ahead of a 2 night stay with Sophie & Mark. She was well looked after, and settled in despite her being an anxious dog. Sophie is extremely knowledgeable and sent updates which helped reassure us that Piper was fine. Sophie took on board all info shared re Pipers routine and followed this through. Piper appeared comfortable and content with Sophie and Mark and we are delighted it went so well. I’d highly recommend Sophie and will happily book again.

Sophie and her partner Mark were wonderful with my little border terrier Doris. They took the time to get to know her during a meet and greet prior to her overnight stay, and I felt really confident leaving my little Doris in their care. Sophie kept me updated with pictures whilst we were away, and it was clear that Doris had a wonderful time! She returned home one happy and tired dog after a fun filled night away 😍 I would not hesitate to book Sophie and Mark again. They clearly care greatly about the dogs they take in, treating them like their own.

Angus had a wonderful time with Sophie and Mark, they sent lovely photos and videos and he looked perfectly happy. It’s been a real joy to go on holiday knowing that he’s in great hands.

Angus our 9 yr old Frenchie stayed with Sophie and Mark for a trial night ahead of a 5 night stay next week. We felt really assured that Angus would be in safe hands. Sophie was really communicative and had thought of everything ahead of Angus’ stay. There were lots of toys for him to play with, snuggle mats and I’m sure he had plenty of cuddles. We will now be able to go on holiday knowing that Angus will be having a great time with Sophie and Mark .

I will follow a strict schedule if one is provided. If not, I will ensure to give your pup a fun-filled day or walk, including basic training and enrichment games to keep them engaged and never bored. Your dog will always be on a leash while under my care during walks, as we live near semi-busy roads. This ensures your peace of mind, leaving no room for accidents. I understand leaving your pup with a stranger can be nerve-racking, so please feel free to ask as many questions as you'd like and provide as much information about your dog and their quirks as you see fit. This allows me to ensure both you and your pup are as comfortable and stress-free as possible, and it helps me to communicate better with them during their visits.

Information Sophie M. would like to know about your pet

I'll likely discuss these topics during our meet and greet, but please inform me if your dog has any illnesses, medication needs, or allergies I should be aware of. Additionally, let me know about any behavioral issues such as reactivity, separation anxiety, excessive barking, or leash pulling. Let me know if you'd like me to continue any training you've been working on with your pup so they can keep learning. I understand how difficult it can be to leave your fur baby, so I'm open to following any strict schedule you'd like to provide. My goal is to make this experience as easy and comfortable as possible for both you and your dog!

A typical day

Each day will be tailored to your dog's specific needs. Whether you have a slightly anxious, non-social dog (like my two), a social butterfly, or a confident but lone wolf, their temperament will shape the structure of each day or walk. However, I will ensure your dog receives enough mental stimulation along with physical exercise through activities such as snuffle mats, puzzles, filled Kongs, and licki matts. If you prefer, I will try to stick to your dog's daily routine as much as I can to keep them as stress and anxiety-free as possible. So, please do not hesitate to provide me with a detailed daily routine to follow!

I'm able to offer daycare and short overnight stays (no more than 4 nights) throughout the week and can accommodate weekends with enough notice. Daycare and overnight stays will not be in the same household as my two rescues. I study from my partner's home throughout the week, and with Rover now being my only job, we are able to offer this service together. Don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions!
