Pet care experience
I am studying veterinary medicine and come from a background filled with animals. I love my degree and can't wait to apply it in my future career. Growing up on a farm has taught me from day one how to keep dogs happy and healthy. Since then, my love and knowledge concerning dogs has only flourished. When, at 16, I got my own puppy, I put my heart and soul into training and caring for her, helping her grow into the beautiful dog she is today. From working dogs to beloved pets, I have seen it all. I began dog sitting for family and friends, enabling me to work on my adaptability to how other people like their dogs to be loved. Studying zoology has given me a solid foundation of behavioural knowledge, and I apply that to all the dogs I care for, being firm but always kind.
Reviews
Very happy doggies when we returned. Sophie clearly loves dogs and cared for ours well. She stayed in our house, that way there was less disruption for our dogs.
We can thoroughly recommend Sophie to look after your pets. She is an amazingly capable individual, a natural problem solver, with a sound understanding of the needs of domestic animals. As a shepherds daughter she is not only confident and knowledgeable but also has an impressive calm, kind and gentle manner with animals. She looked after both our dogs while also house sitting for us. So she was looking after our dogs, all the house plants and two green houses. No easy task but she did a wonderful job. And most importantly, the dogs now love her to bits.
Sophie has had a lot of experience with dogs, she grew up in a family which always had dogs as pets, as well as working dogs, both sheep dogs and gun dogs. She has attended dog training and is very aware and knowledgeable of how to encourage good behaviour. She also genuinely loves dogs and will ensure that dogs are safe, healthy and happy at all times.

Safety, trust & environment
I am owner-lead in my care for other people's pets, each family has its own way of doing it, and sticking to that routine makes it easier for everyone involved. Dog sitting, walks or drop-ins will be as energetic or peaceful as needed, fitting in with each pet's needs.

Information Sophie I. would like to know about your pet
Any behavioural vices most significantly aggression or anxiety around people or other dogs. Beyond that, anything which frightens the dog, if they pull on the lead and what I can implement to prevent that. What house rules there are about where the pets can be and how meal times work especially if there are multiple pets. Additionally, it is helpful to provide information about the commands a dog knows, and if they respond to other people or just the owner.
A typical day
The activities will be suited to the pet's specific energy level, needs and general likes. I can make all sorts of walks fun, with safe off-leash time, relaxing long-line walks, or more focused short-leash walks depending on what works best. I love finding new places to explore, as well as visiting my favourite parks and beaches. Lots of cuddles are a must, and I'll be sure to play with all the favourite toys.
