Pet care experience
Hi! My name is Sonya and I am so excited to meet your special pup (or kitty)! I am a life-long animal lover and have been caring for my own pets since I was a little girl. I am also the friend that everyone calls and trusts to watch their animals. :) I am currently working on my PhD in counseling psychology at FSU. I have had pets all of my life and currently have an 11-year-old dachshund named Mr. Fraggles. He is a therapy dog and loves visiting with children and adolescents at local schools! I love animals so much that while completing my master’s degree in social work I earned my certificate in Veterinary Social Work! One of my primary research interests is animal-assisted therapy and I hope to integrate it into my future practice as a psychologist. My dog is truly a family member to me and I will treat your pet as he/she is my own. I understand what an important role pets play in our lives and how precious they are. Whether I’m dropping in to care for your pet or taking him/her on walks, you can expect loving care, detailed updates, and lots of pictures. I am an active person and am happy to take your dog on runs, jogs, walks, or just spend time loving on him/her! I have experience caring for special-needs animals, as I lost a dog last year to a brain tumor. During the last months of his life, he required special care and feeding, and I am confident I can care for your pet the same, no matter the requirements. I hope to hear from you and am looking forward to meeting!

Sonya is an amazing person. I’ve known her for a long time and I’ve seen her with her own pets as well as mine. There’s no one I’d put more trust in with my two dogs Doug and Mia. George the cat likes her as well. I would recommend her to sit for your pets any day.
My dog is treated like absolute royalty when she stays with Sonya! I cannot express how grateful I am for Sonya as a friend and doggie aunt to my 3 yo pit/blue heeler mix, Annie! I unexpectedly got Annie as a 4 week old puppy and was NOT prepared for her at all. Sonya volunteered to keep her for me while I was puppy-proofing my home that first weekend, and she has stayed with Sonya numerous other times. A pit/blue heeler mix is quite a handful, and Annie required so much attention and energy as a puppy. She has stayed with Sonya and Patrick for extended amounts of time, and each time I come to pick her up, she doesn't want to leave. They make sure she has exercise and tons of fun. I can always rest assured that my dog is safe, happy, healthy, loved, and entertained when staying with these two!
I have known Sonya over 12 years now and within those years it has become very clear to me her love for dogs/animals. Her dog Fraggles (10 years old) and Dagget (recently passed) were and are her babies. She treats/treated them just like her babies and takes the best care of them. She even dressed(es) them up for the holidays and takes annual photos of them. She is such a fun doggy mommy! Not only is she the fun, loving doggy mommy, but she is also the ultimate doggy care giver by ensuring her doggies were/are kept up to date on their doggie shots and vet check-ups. Overall, I think Sonya would make an awesome doggie sitter with consideration of how well she has taken care of her doggies in the past. She does such a great job at playing with, feeding, and walking her dog Fraggles, I know she would do the same for other doggies as well.

I would love to know more about your dog, like what kind of activities he/she enjoys and how I can make him/her feel most comfortable and safe. I can take your dog on a run or just hang out on the couch giving belly rubs!
A typical day
I am open to walking or running with your pet anywhere you prefer! If you'd like suggestions, I am familiar with most parks and trails in town and can recommend some great places your dog might enjoy. I will also play with them, love on them, and give them lots of pets and kisses!
