Dog Sitting on a Big Farm in the Countryside
Pet care experience
Dog sitting available in a loving family home; lovely huge farmhouse with lots of land. Dogs have free range inside the house, there are designated rooms for dogs who prefer privacy and there is lots of land outside for them to run about. My daughter, Petrina, started the Rover account back in 2017 whilst she was a vet student. We (Petrina, my son, my husband and I) have been providing boarding and day care as a family for over 7 years. She has now graduated as a fully qualified vet and have left the family home for employment. I am a piano teacher working from home. I live with my husband and two year old Golden Retriever. I have good knowledge of management of animals, as well as having years of experience and have always lived in a house with at least one dog. I take my dog on daily runs/walks and am happy to bring along any boarding dogs. I only take one dog at a time unless they are from the same family. I provide a one to one personalised service. Every boarding dog receives top priority and is catered for individually. For new bookings over a week, we require booking a trial night/day to ensure the dog is happy here, following a successful meet and greet. I would not be able to take Huskies as my dog does not get along with the breed. For health safety precautions, I would not be able to board dogs who are fed a raw diet. I generally do not accept dogs over 30kg unless they are well behaved.
Reviews
This was the first time Monty was looked after by Sonia. He can be a little vocal when he arrives somewhere new. He seems to have settled quickly and was chilled throughout with Sonia sending photos and a video of his overnight visit. Very happy with the process and we have already rebooked.
Thank you again Sonia, Charlie seems to have been very comfortable and happy staying with you. My first holiday where I didn’t feel guilty about leaving him as I knew he was going to be loved and well looked after. All the videos & photographs showed he really was having a great time. Definitely will be back next year!
Thank you Sonia, Charlie had the perfect dog sitting experience, lots of attention, lots of play and lots of secure outdoor space to run around in a quiet rural location. We were kept up to date with lots of photos so we could see he was having a great time. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
Excellent care from Petrina and her partner. Regular photos and Basil had such a good time he didn’t want to come home with me!

The farm is surrounded by thick hedge, so apart from the entrance onto the driveway it is pretty secure - however any dogs with a questionable recall will be kept on the lead. We do also have a completely secure area on the stable yard for the dogs to run free.

Information Sonia S. would like to know about your pet
Boarding dogs must be up to date with vaccinations, dewormed, be on regular flea and tick prevention, fully house trained, neutered/spayed and free of major behavioural issues - Unfortunately I cannot take on dogs who are on a raw diet, reactive dogs, those with behavioural issues such as resource guarding, excessive barking or whining, chewing, scratching or destroying objects in the house, severe separation anxiety, territorial, hyper, aggression towards humans or other dogs and any dogs above 30kg who constantly pull on the lead.
A typical day
There is loads of surrounding farmland and fields to go on multiple long walks; including a ford for those who enjoy water during the summer.

Availability
Any boarding dogs become part of the family and are treated as such. The animals are never left alone as there is always someone at home. I prefer boarding dogs to be dropped off in the late morning or latest by early afternoon. No drop offs when it is dark unless it is a repeat boarding. This is to ensure the dog has time to settle and familiarise with its surroundings. Irregardless of the drop off time, pick up will be by noon or latest by 2pm. Beyond 2pm until 5pm there will be a daycare charge and beyond 5pm it would be another night's charge as I would have already done all the work for that day. Kindly have this in mind when booking. Due to other commitments, daycare is from 8am to 5pm.
