I’ve had dogs my entire life and currently have a puppy. I used to provide daycare and overnight care for a number of friends and neighbor’s dogs for free just because I love spending time with them. I am a social worker and have a flexible schedule but I also have over a decade of experience with early childhood education including babysitting and nannying. These positions taught me how important it is to communicate with parents, provide frequent updates and photos, and make sure that their babies have the best, most loving care while with me. To me these principles apply whether it is a social work position, childcare, or taking care of an animal informally or formally. I’m used to being monitor d on nanny cameras and it never bothered me because I would never treat an animal, person, or child anyway that I wouldn’t feel comfortable with the parent seeing.
