For most of my life I've been asked by friends, coworkers, and friends-of-friends to take care of their animals because they knew they could trust me to love them as they would themselves. I've cared for both cats and dogs from a few hours a day to multiple days overnight, and even once got to live with and care for my coworker's two dogs for a month while they were travelling. I was certainly sad when that came to an end as we got used to each other's company. I've also cared for elderly animals, taken care of neo-natal kittens, and given intravenous medicine for diabetes and vaccines. Last year I was lucky enough to house/pet sit at a friend's urban farm where I cared for their three chickens and two ducks, which was so fun! Such kooky birds, I loved it and got way too attached. Other than stealing as many cuddles as the dog or cat will allow, I diligently follow owners' directions, play with the fur babies until they are tuckered out, am able to administer medicine when needed, and am happy to take long walks and spend an afternoon at a dog park.
