I have owned many kinds of dogs, Cocker Spaniel, Doberman, Airedale, German Shepherds, Water Spaniel, German Shorthaired Pointer, Australian Cattle Dog/Treeing Walker Coonhound mix and Clumber Spaniel/Lab mix. I watch Cesar Milan relentlessly, I have been a dog walker for the Clark County Human Society. I have also owned cats, usually at the same time. My cats and dogs have gotten along. Most of the dogs I have owned are 'used,' I get them from the pound or strays or want ads. I was worried dogs at the Human Society feel like they are in prison, my son says they are not in prison, they are in foster care. Our family has two dogs currently who get several walks per day. We have learned to attend to the individual needs of our dogs.
