Pet care experience
I started my first job at a boarding and training facility nearly 5 years ago and knew that the animal field was where I wanted to be. I now work as a vet assistant and continue to build my knowledge on the care and well-being of dogs and cats. I have worked to build an understanding of canine behavior and body language as well as experience with positive reinforcement based training. If your dog needs a bathroom break during the work day or is in need of extra outdoor enrichment and exercise I can provide walks and occasional pet sitting as permitted by my schedule that are individualized for the dog's needs and physical abilities. I have recently moved to the area and would love to make new pup friends to explore it with.

Shyla is, quite literally, the BEST.
Shyla did an INCREDIBLE job working with my reactive dog. She took time to meet and walk with myself and both my dogs before hand and when one still reacted badly to her entering my apartment, she waited patiently and took the time to really gain his trust. I am definitely booking with her again and would 100% recommend her especially if you’re worried about your dog’s reaction to a Rover.

I appreciate knowing as much about a dog as I can to work with them as an individual in a way that will be safest, most effective and enjoyable for the dog. Any physical limitations, what the dog finds stressful and what is rewarding to them, commonly used cues for (recall, sit, etc.) any behavioral issues, and favorite activities are all things I like to know about a dog prior. If treats are okay and if they have any food allergies as well.
A typical day
I understand that different dogs have different needs. I enjoy waking on trails with my own dogs where it is quiet and we can enjoy the one on one time while working on various behaviors. I'd like to get as much information about a new dog and what the owner is comfortable with so that I may cater to that. I do not let client dogs off leash and I will not take them to dog parks due to safety risks.
