Pet care experience
Hi! I love, love animals, especially dogs (all breeds - no discrimination), and love spending time with them, and have been invested in caretaking services for a large part of my adult life. I would love to walk, drop in, host or house sit your pet, when I am available and have capacity! I am caring, nurturing, loving, and will make sure your pet is safe, comfortable, and happy. I have 10+ years in dogcare and 10+ years in childcare, and am also a doula, so I have a natural inclination for caring, attention-giving, and managing unexpected problems. I currently work 2 part-time jobs mostly remotely- in the nonprofit world of mental health and the arts. My schedule in the evenings and weekends is fairly flexible, and I will make sure your dog gets exercise and good walks. I live in North Oakland, in Gaskill. I can take your dog out for frequent walks and/or potty breaks. I am happy to take them to a dog park also if that’s appropriate for them.
Reviews
Our pup can be bit of a handful and this was his first time ever staying with someone, but Shilpa was absolutely wonderful. She had a great attitude about everything and was very patient with Marlo. You can definitely tell she truly cares for animals and will care for them as her own. Can’t thank her enough for all her help this weekend!
Shilpa was great with our dog Tsula. We loved getting photos and regular updates while we were away. Would definitely hire her again!
Very responsible! I know my dog is in good hands with Shilpa! I’ve booked with her a few times now and always have a good experience!
I came home to a very happy dog after Shilpa took her for doggy daycare while I was at work. I would definitely book her again. Great communication, updates, and adorable photos of my little fur friend.

That said, I have experience with senior dog care, leash reactivity, deaf dogs/special needs dogs, and some mediocre dog training (I am not certified by any means but I’ve trained my dog pretty well!). I love taking dogs on long walks, or the park if they enjoy that. I love keeping them engaged, as that’s how they stay out of trouble :) I also have experience with dogs that are crate trained.

I would love to know: how your dog reacts to new people or visitors or front door individuals how your dog reacts to men have they ever bitten another dog or person what to watch out for (marking, chewing, shoes, etc) what are their daily special needs such as supplements or medication do they tend to try and escape out the front door how they do in cars how they are with other dogs do they like dog parks / do you feel comfortable with me bringing them there
A typical day
I like to take them to dog park to get their energy out. I also can take them on a hike if they are into that. otherwise, usually i’ll do a walk in the am, walk around afternoon, evening, then at night before bed. let me know their capacity for walking :)

Availability
I recently adopted a rescue senior dog from Muttville who was a stray with some health problems - so until she is adjusted well (3-6 months) I will only be taking clients outside of my home to avoid distressing her.
