Pet care experience
I am pursuing my DVM at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and have dual BS degrees in Animal Sciences and Evolution & Ecology from Ohio State University. I have over 5 years of experience caring for animals in veterinary, boarding/grooming, and classroom settings. Mainly, I've worked as a veterinary assistant in local and out-of-state hospitals, which have taught me a wide variety of skills from basic animal health, first aid, medication administration (pills, insulin, fluids), proper handling techniques, basic command training, grooming (nail trims, bathing, basic grooming/cuts), among many other things. So don't worry if you're furry friend requires additional attention due to feeding schedules, medications, or other health concerns! I live with my super cuddly cat, Chu, here in Ithaca, and my family has two cats and a dog of our own. Over the years, I've cared for other animals like birds, rabbits, snakes, geckos, turtles, rats, and so on! I say I'm a cat-person who loves to cuddle with both needy and aloof kitties, but I also enjoy the energetic dogs and puppies who demand playtime and attention.

2nd time having Shay look after my little cottonball and she was great 😊 - house was tidy! I do believe she vacuumed the floors! My cat was snuggly and happy! Shiling (Shay) is very very thorough, takes great pictures, and I highly recommend her!!!

Shiling was a great sitter - I’ve had 3 and she’s the best of the bunch. Super conscientious, great communicator, and good with my old cat, the only one where my cat didn’t have any accidents outside of the litter box! I would definitely definitely love to have her look after my cat again and highly recommend her to anyone who needs a great pet sitter!

I am available for drop-in visits, dog-walking, cat-sitting, and occasionally short-/long-term overnight care. To minimize the chance of spreading COVID-19, I follow strict personal protocols that include washing hands before and after handling your furry friend, minimizing unnecessary contact with other household items, and monitoring my personal health (checking for symptoms, COVID testing, etc.).

Before spending time with your furry friend, I would like to know: - Health concerns, medications, or special feeding instructions (such as treat allowance, allergies, etc.) - Normal feeding/walking/playing routine (how would you like me to pamper you furry friend?) - House rules (i.e. no pets on furniture, must wipe feet before entering home, etc.) - Preferred vet contact, in case of emergencies - Additional services that you'd like me to fulfill (may result in additional charges)
A typical day
I can take your dog (and/or cat!) on walks in the yard, neighborhood, or local parks. When I am with your furry friend, I will dedicate my time to them, such as playing with them, sitting/relaxing together, reinforcing basic commands, and so on.

Availability
I am currently a full-time student, but my availability can be pretty flexible. I rarely have spontaneous, unplanned events that would result in cancellations. Typically, I am available on weekends and late afternoons to evenings due to my classes, but if you have other needs, please reach out to me and we can work something out.
