I have two Australian shepherds myself, so I am no stranger to high energy dogs. If your dog does need more or less playtime, please let me know! I can adjust to what they’re comfortable with. If your dog does not play well with others or does not do well on leash, please also let me know. I have some strategies I can implement.

To tire a dog out physically, I like to take them on walks around my neighborhood and around theirs. I let them sniff and sniff till their heart’s content. I also like to take the high-energy dogs over to an old fenced in softball field and have them run after a ball. What’s nice about the field is it gives them plenty of space to stretch their legs without me worrying they’ll wander off. To tire out dogs mentally, I like to play puzzles and games! I have a wide variety of puzzles at my home and like to play “find the treat” around the house. Also, if allowed, I like to give dogs lick mats that contain peanut butter, yogurt, or pumpkin! They go crazy for it! Then once we’re all settled down for the day, I will provide cuddles, but only if they want to.
