Pet care experience
I adopted my first rescue dog over thirty years ago and have since lived with many cats and dogs, some with very high needs. For this past year, my wife and I have been pet sittings for various friends while our house was being renovated. Now that we're back home, we miss all our pet pals! I work from home so I'm around most of the time for pets who get lonely and have an excellent dog park at the end of our street. I have experience with diabetic cats, elderly dogs and cats, administering medication, and high-energy dogs. There are no other pets in the home currently as we recently lost our sweet senior friend.

Shelley has been my go-to pet sitter for nearly 20 years, first for my diabetic cat, and now for my 12 year old dachshund, Mabel. Shelley is very dependable, as well as kind and warm with all animals. Mabel is very shy and doesn't take to many people, but she is always excited to have a visit with Auntie Shelley. Shelley is dedicated to maintaining routines as much as possible and following the instructions I leave for about care and feeding. She's great about asking any questions when my instructions aren't clear, and if I'm not available, she makes excellent decisions based on what I've already said. I would trust Shelley 100% with any animal, whether it was for a quick walk at lunch or a weeks' long vacation.

We have a detached house near the Ottawa river and lots of other excellent walking spots. There is a dog park at the end of our street, if your pooch likes to socialize. If not, there are plenty of solo activities we can do together. I have a car and can pick up dogs and cats to bring them to our place or drop in for visits at yours. If you need house care, I can pick up the mail and water plants, feed fish, and so on. We currently have an unfenced yard, but it will be fenced by the end of the summer, 2024.

I also request the name and number of your vet and an emergency contact in case we can't get a hold of you. If you live with anyone who will be in the home during a pick-up or drop-off, please let me know in advance. Please ensure that your pets are up to date with their shots as well as flea and tick medication.
A typical day
Long walks are my jam so if your pup likes that too, we'll get along great! Smaller dogs and those who can't handle a long walk will be loved up with any kind of playtime they enjoy. We have many small toys and will incorporate your dogs favorites when we're together. Expect lots of photos!

Availability
I work from home every day and my partner (the cat whisperer) is also home half-time. Most of my work is quite stationary, which is great for snoozy pups and cats, but I get out everyday for a long walk and love to have company. We spend most weekends around the house and out walking along the river or at the Arboretum so there's a good balance of cozy and playtime.
