Pet care experience
I grew up on the east coast in a household full of pets from dogs, cats, snakes, guinea pigs, gerbils, hamsters, all kinds of birds, you name it! We were essentially a suburban zoo that treated each animal like family. Today I am an ethical vegan and I love being around animals in my spare time since I don’t have any pets of my own. I am also very interested in R+ training, and am always prepared with lots of treats and praise.

Shelley was awesome with our boys. Very responsive, clean and kept the schedule we wanted. Will def ask her to come back :)
Shelley was a wonderful petsitter! I hope she'll be available the next time we go out of town :) She took great care of our dog and cat and left our home spotless. Thank you!
Shelley is a great sitter! She is responsive and very communicative when she was house sitting our cat and dog. Our dog and cat warmed up to her instantly during our meet & greet. It was obvious safety was very important to her as well. Would book again without hesitation!
Shelley took amazing care of our cat for a week while we were away. Our cat can be quite anxious but settled right in with Shelley. We received updates and photos, and our cat looked so relaxed and happy during her stay. Thank you, Shelley!

My home is a very quiet and safe place for dogs. I don’t have any animals or men currently living in my home which are common triggers for dogs that may already have separation anxiety. When I am dog-sitting at the dog’s residence, I like to let the pup greet me and I get down to eye level when first entering the space. I’m pretty short as-is, so animals warm up quickly to me because I’m not very intimidating. If I’m walking a pup, they pretty much run the show. I’ve read studies that letting a dog guide the walk and sniff as much as they want boosts happy hormones in their brains, so it brings me joy to do that!
Information Shelley R. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any behaviors or special needs I can account for. I have a big and small dog bed but also don’t mind if the dog prefers to sleep in my bed. Also please know that I don’t bring dogs that I am sitting to dog parks unless explicitly told to.
A typical day
Days will always start with breakfast and a walk and I usually break up the day with bursts of playing and short strolls. If I’m not working, I will go for a long dog-led hike depending on the dog’s needs. I live in a very walkable area with several trails and use a 15 foot leash. I also have a go-to beach I like to bring reactive dogs to tire them out with fetch.

I work from home so I am always around and my schedule is flexible. I also live in an area with lots of trails which is great for short or long walks, depending on the pup’s needs.
