DOG BOARDING: Where Dogs Run Free!

Pet care experience

HUDSON VALLEY DOG BOARDING WITH LOVE! CHARMING COTTAGE WITH LARGE FENCED YARD ROUND THE CLOCK LOVE AND ATTENTION! THE UN-KENNEL PET CARE! Cozy slumber parties on beds and quilts. Limited clientele. Doggie daycare starts at 11am and ends at 7pm. Specializing in country boarding for city and fun loving dogs. Over 35 years experience. We make traditional boarding look obsolete! Smoke free, chemical free, filtered water, organic treats, natural cleaning products -upscale and healthy environment catering to the physical and emotional well being of your dog! Nightly massages and home baked treat for pooch! Serving the NY Tri-state region. PAWS-A-TIVELY FABULOUS! About this sitter: Dogs are my passion!! As an original founding member of dog runs in NYC parks and a pioneer in cageless boarding. My long time clients have followed me from NYC to the Hudson Valley. I was also involved in a clinical trial at St Vincent's hospital in NYC (only 5 handlers/dogs participated in the trial) that changed the law so that pet therapy dogs can now go into all acute care hospitals in NY State. Many of my clients are household names whose dogs I have trained or/and boarded over the years. These include Valerie Harper (Rhoda & Mary Tyler Moore Show), Anna Wintour (Vogue), Asif Ali Zardari (president of Pakistan), Simon Hammerstein (Rogers & Hammerstein), etc. I take in only 5 dogs at a time that received my full attention in caring for their emotional and physical needs..lots of love and lots of exercise/play in a large, securely fenced yard. My approach is holistic which includes filtered water, no chemicals on the lawn or in the house and only natural products are used. When your dog comes for boarding, I pamper your dog as if it was my very own! At bedtime, each dog gets a massage and cookie before we say "good night!" I am always available to address all your pet care questions and concerns. I prefer dogs that are not aggressive to other dogs, non destructive, don't have separation anxiety, if larger size do not jump up on people and have basic puppy manners. Dogs play all day and at night I do use either their own crate that they arrive with or baby gates to separate them so that all dogs can get a good night's sleep. The size of the dog is not as important as the dog's tempermant and ability to mingle well with other dogs. I prefer dogs under 100 lbs or so. Why I love dog sitting Since I was a young child. I read every dog book available at the public library...and then read them again and again. Meet my pets One friendly dog of my own. Hina is a rescue flown in from Korea and loves other dogs. I take in five or less dogs at a time. About my yard I have 1/2 acre all fenced with a double 6' stockade and a padlocked gate. The dogs play on the grass, deck, patio, and sun room. They have a lot of cushioned furniture where they can take a quick dog nap! There are lots of toys to play with and my dog Hina loves tug-o-war and chase. She is thrilled to have doggie friends who come to visit her. My experience administering medication I have given dogs medication for decades. I go out of my way to insure that dogs are happy and healthy at Bed & Biscuit! I am home all the time so there is plenty of time to play with your dogs. I love making them feel safe and comfortable. Watching them play and experience joy is my goal. My focus is on safety and prevention. I have years of positive experience as a dog boarder, trainer and behaviorist. I welcome your dog into my home and my wonderful play yard. I have a cozy cottage and large, securely fenced/locked yard. Dog enjoy using the doggie door and having the freedom to choose where they want to be during the day. They not only have a wonderful play yard but a doggie lounge where they can cuddle up on a chaise lounge and love seat. I take in only 5 friendly dogs who have been carefully screened for temperament. My goal is for you to travel without worry, knowing that your dog will be having a fun and wonderful vacation at my place.

Shelley was great! She sent picture updates of my Finn every day and it was clear he was having a lot of fun and was being well-cared for and loved on! I was able to enjoy my trip fully because I knew he was being taken care of😁

When your dog is with Shelley, your dog is HAPPY. Shelley & her dog boarding home are WONDERFUL. My dog LOVES it there. Her yard is so much fun for them, and as importantly - very securely fenced. She even locks the gate so no one can enter without permission, which is an extra layer of security I appreciate. I've known Shelley for a few years now, and she's watched our dogs more times than I can count, and I can mention that her home is incredibly charming. Also, she doesn't use chemicals in her house or yard and when we send our dog to her, we know our pooch is safe in every way. She treats all dogs like her very own. I've used other places to board my dog and no others compare to the knowledge and the connection that Shelley has with the dogs. It is truly remarkable. That's the number one reason I choose her - that connection. Shelley doesn't mention this, but she has boarded & trained dogs for multiple celebrities and even the president of a country. True! People who can afford anyone choose her, and there is a good reason - she's a true "dog whisperer." My dog was relaxed and happy when I picked her up and even went back to the porch for some last snuggles & a couple smooches, before jumping in the car. If you want the BEST of the BEST, choose Shelley and her wonderful place for your dog.

Very unusually experience! I was unable to see the inside of the house or area the dogs were staying. I was also unable to see the yard. I saw a video prior of a dog running in the yard but upon arrival I had to leave the dogs at the door. I felt uneasy and Shelly did answer my call the night before we left to assure me the dogs were fine. I received two messages that she was enjoying them, but no photos and no real details about some of the activities she did with them. Nothing about how they got along with the other dog that was also supposed to arrive. Upon further investigation I found terrible review of Shelly on yelp. Many 1 star reviews. When I called to let Shelly know I was getting the dogs, she was very short with me. Upon arrival she basically threw the leashes at my husband and I and slammed the door in our faces. She made some negative comment about them as if they were driving her crazy then said they were a pleasure and closed the door. I could hear her yelling at them inside the house when we came. Ideally best scenario would have been allowing them to greet us in your fenced in yard but I didn’t dare ask because she made it clear no one was allowed in her house and did not offer to show me the yard. Of course the dogs heard us and pulled and tugged a bit to say hello. They are a lovable labradoodle and golden doodle. Shelly wanted me her house is not really dog proof. My one labradoodle is a counter surfer and they will sometimes get into garbage. I was forthcoming with this and Shelly did tell me her house isn’t really dog proof and there seemed to be alot of concerns. I guess overall this made me very uneasy and then reading the yelp reviews did not help. I’m glad I have them home and definitely would have appreciated more details specifically about their care and the activities they did while we were away. Going in and out of their own and eating really wasn’t a lot of detail. Very odd situation at pick up as well.

Information Shelley D. would like to know about your pet

A well socialized, friendly dog is the most important aspect for me. The dogs run and play throughout the day and it is imperative that they get along with each other. Older dogs can lounge peacefully and enjoy the tranquility of my property.

A typical day

The dogs play with other friendly dogs throughout the day and early evening so walks are quite unnecessary. I also play games with the dogs using appropriate dog toys. The dogs are so exhausted at night that I do not hear even a peep from them until the morning. A tired dog is a good dog!!!!! Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog will always have cozy slumber parties on quilts and beds inside my home. During the warm weather the a/c is always on and during the cold months the heat is always on. Your dog will experience round the clock comfort and compassionate care. Time I'll spend with your dog Many hours. In the evening we cuddle up and watch TV. Your dog will get a massage and treat before bed.
