Council Licensed Boarder and Dog Day Care.

Pet care experience

*Please note - it is the law in Scotland that home boarders are licensed, this means the people and their property are thoroughly inspected yearly to ensure they are safe, prepared and knowledgable, please make sure to ask each boarder for their license or license number so you can check with your local council before boarding with them, or you could be putting your dog in danger!* We can only take dogs that are fully toilet trained and get on very well with other dogs. If your dog doesn’t get on well with other dogs we won’t be able to accommodate your request. We will require a trail night before a stay if longer than 3 nights, to ensure dogs are compatible with us and our dogs.

My animals had a wonderful holiday staying with Shell and her crew! The cats and bunnies each had their own special suites, and our dog was "one of the gang" fitting in with Shell's own dogs. Everyone returned home very happy and well-cared-for. She really made a fuss of them all as though they were her own.

Great, a happy dog was returned. Shell had noticed things about him, so clearly he was well cared for.

Thank you, Shell, for looking after Morag with such care overnight while we went to a wedding. Morag was a bit anxious and unsettled when she arrived but you gave her all the love and attention she wanted and we're so grateful!

Safety, trust & environment

Hello! I’m Shell, I’m 37, married and the mother of one teenager. I have had dogs, small and large, my whole life and have a great connection with every dog I’ve met! I have experience handling a wide range of dogs, including very anxious rescue dogs. We have 5 small dogs in the house, all very friendly and well behaved. We also have two friendly house cats, and outside we have some chickens (in a fenced off area of the garden!). We have a good sized garden and a nice safe fenced in green. We are fully licensed by Fife council and underwent full inspection with environmental officers and qualified vets to ensure our home and garden is an ideal, safe environment for dogs, and that I myself am prepared and knowledgable enough to keep dogs safe, and happy. I'm fully insured and have a certificate in pet first aid. We do not offer meet and greets within our property - it’s stressful to currently boarding dogs to have strangers passing through, increases the risk of escape as visitors aren’t familiar with our safety protocols regarding outer doors, and increases bio security risks. Dogs are expected to be dropped off at the door. I love to walk and be out and about, and having dogs by my side is when I’m happiest. I’m confident and in control with all dogs. I’m happy to work with people and I’m very flexible about locations and timing of walks, as I know from experience that dogs are all different and no one knows them better than their owners! I also have experiencing caring for horses and have an equine first aid qualification, and may be able to provide a turn out/feeding service. Message me about this for more information!

Information Shell D. would like to know about your pet

I prefer to know up front of any anxieties or aggressions, just so I can be prepared to avoid them and handle them calmly when they do crop up. It’s of course important for me to also know about any medications, their doses and frequency. I’d like to know of any allergies, so I can make sure that nothing potentially dangerous is in reach, and any other potential dangers, such as a predisposition to eating textiles for example, so I can ensure the environment is safe and secure for the dog, and the toys provided are safe. I’d also love to hear about your dogs favourite treats, toys, walks and games so I have the best chance of making friends with them!

A typical day

I work part time from my computer at home, on a very flexible schedule so I’m able to fit my work around my dogs. We typically start the day in the garden, then everyone eats, then we take a walk. It’s then nap time for the dogs and I fit some work in. At lunch time we get our midday meal out the way for those who have one, we do a little training work, and take another walk, then we generally spend some time playing until dinner, we take another walk after dinner then more play and family time, at night some of our dogs like another walk, the little ones prefer a trip to the garden instead, then we get settled in for the night!
