Pet care experience
I've been caring for my own animals since I was a child and have been caring for other people's animals for the past 15 years. I have 2 years of experience in a doggy daycare environment, 1 year of experience working in an animal shelter, and 1 year of experience in veterinary medicine. I have extensive knowledge of most breeds and temperaments. I have some professional training when it comes to identifying and understanding animal behavior. Additionally, having worked in veterinary medicine, I am comfortable with special needs animals and administering various medications (oral, ear, eye, and injectable). I have a soft spot for senior pets, but I LOVE stinky puppy breath and squeaky kitten mewling. While dogs are my specialty, I am happy to care for other animals. I have a history with dogs, cats, birds, and small animals! I have excellent references and will go above and beyond to ensure the best care for your animals.

I highly recommend Shelby as a pet sitter. I have a red heeler that is very protective and doesn't generally like strangers - especially those that come into her home. From the first meeting, Missy just loved Shelby. Shelby knows how to approach animals that have never met her, lets them take their time sniffing and getting to know her. I travel usually once every month or so for work and Shelby is always able to come and stay with Missy - even when we had a family emergency and needed someone quickly. I always receive a text from Shelby when she arrives to let me know she is there and she also sends a picture of Missy. I highly recommend Shelby to anyone looking for a pet sitter.

When I am on a client's property, I take extra care to treat their home in a professional manner and be respectful of personal boundaries. I leave my client's home exactly as I found it and avoid entering private areas/rooms. I am more than willing to assist in caring for plants and aquariums during my services. I will also bring in mail, packages, etc. from the porch or driveway if requested.

Please disclose any history of aggression/fearfulness, both with humans and other animals! My goal is to keep your pet safe, while also keeping myself safe. Aggression/fearfulness/anxiety can manifest in many ways, such as resource guarding, kennel/barrier aggression, or food aggression. Please disclose any allergies your pet may have. I have worked with countless breeds and am familiar with breed behavior patterns. I have a lot of experience with rescue animals and am very comfortable around "bully" breeds. ***Lastly, meet & greets are REQUIRED for my services! I do NOT charge for meet & greets! They are simply my way of ensuring that your pet and I are a good fit! Meeting a stranger for the first time can be very stressful. Stress can be easily managed when the proper precautions are taken.
A typical day
I like to visit parks or just walk around quiet neighborhoods. If the animal knows how to play fetch, I am more than happy to play! Got a couch potato pet? I'm cool with that too! I always take a moment to just sit with your pet and offer my affection through petting and treats.

Availability
I work a full-time job on Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5pm. I have an hour lunch slot that I can take anytime midday. I can do drop-ins before work, during lunch, and after work. I do get a lunch break around noon, so I can make short visits during that period if needed.
