I've grown up around dogs. My grandfather is a veterinarian, so I've always had a deep compassion for animals, dogs especially. He's a dog person and has taught me to care for dogs with love and respect. "Dogs are incredibly loyal, but you have to earn that loyalty, not force it." I feel as though I can care for any dog, even protective/territorial dogs. Most people are afraid of being hurt, but don't understand that dogs are just protecting what is theirs and if you cross their boundaries, there wasn't mutual respect/understanding. They aren't difficult to understand or please. They just want love and loyalty. As long as they receive that, there won't be any issues. If I could have my own dog right now, I would but my living situation doesn't allow for it and I work full time and wouldn't be able to give my dog the full attention it deserves.
