Pet care experience
Let’s just say I was born a animal lover! Some people like to say I have a zoo at my house. I have 3 dogs, 3 cats, 3 horses, 2 mini donkeys, 5 cows, and of course, chickens and ducks! Not only do I love and enjoy all of the animals at my house, but I work at a dog boarding kennel as a kennel tech and have for 3 years. At my workplace, not only do we board dogs, we also breed German Shorthaired Pointers. My family and I have personally have whelped 3 litters, starting just when I was 5 years old. Whelping and raising puppies is a full time job even more so than caring for a fully grown dog but I absolutely love every minute of it! I pet sit for a lot of my neighbors, family and friends as well; mostly drop in visits. I could not live my life without animals; it is truly my lifestyle. I treat my own animals like my children, and I do the same for every animal in my care.

This is our second time having Shelby care for our cats and she does an amazing job!
This was our first time using Rover and I must say that Shelby was outstanding!! She was extremely responsive and since both of my cats required medication administration, she was very willing to set up a meet and greet to meet ours cats and to see the process to give them their medications. All went so well during the meet and greet, but when it came time for Shelby to visit the cats during our vacation, my cats decided to not cooperate by hiding from her and made it pretty difficult to give them their medications as they would keep running away. Shelby was very honest about how things were going and provided detailed updates with photos. She was extremely patient with my cats and they were able to get more comfortable as the week went on and eventually let her pick them up and stopped hiding which was very reassuring. She did excellent with getting them their medications even though the cats didn't make it easy! She was on time, provided excellent care, and we were able to relax on vacation knowing they were cared for. We plan to have Shelby help us again in the future!! Thanks SO much Shelby!!
Shelby was great at taking care of our cat! She did everything we asked while we were away.
Shelby has been out consistent walker for a month and half now, and our dogs love her! They know the drill when she comes over and are always excited to see her.

Not all animals are the same and I never want to treat them as such. If a pet has a special routine, or even a special need; I want to make sure I meet that expectation of care.

I want to know everything about your pet! Little quirks, eating habits, what their regular bowel movements are, sleeping habits, and their overall usual temperament throughout the day!
A typical day
Depending on the dog; I will always do different actives with the dogs. I believe mental enrichment/stimulation can do just as much as physical exercise/activities when it comes to entertaining or tiring your dog out! I love to provide dogs with lick mats or kong type toys, or give them their meal in a puzzle bowl or game! When it comes to physical activities, I will always play fetch with the ball obsessed dogs! I love taking my personal dogs to the lake to go swimming! When walking a dog, I also making sure to allow them to sniff and explore to really let them not only get them their physical exercise but also to let them work their brains with all of the scents they encounter! When it comes to kitties, I know how much their personalities can vary! But overall, I am more than happy to snuggle up with your cat on the couch or play with them and their favorite toy!

Availability
I currently work part time at a dog boarding and breeding kennel, only working 3 days a week; possibly more during busy season or when whelping a litter. I also run and own a photography business; so overall I am very flexible when it comes to any needed schedule/routine. Although when it comes to house sitting and overnights, I can not offer a 24/7 service. Rover is not a full time job for me at this point and time. I want to spend as much time at your house as possible, but I am unable to take off work and leave my own animals without care. During my house sitting bookings, I will have to go to work (3 days a week) as well as come back to my own home to do my own animal chores. In order for me to consider a house sitting booking, I must have a 2 week notice.
