Pet care experience
Going away and need your pet to stay somewhere instead of a boarding facility? I am a fourth year veterinary student at NC state school of veterinary medicine. I pet sit on the side. I love all types of animals (except spiders) and you can trust your animals will be in good hands. I work at NC State veterinary hospital and have worked in small animal veterinary clinics for the last 6 years. I have had pets my whole life, everything from rats to horses.

Shelby was wonderful!
Shelby and her crew of four legged friends were amazing for my Labrador retriever. She treated her very well and gave me updates via text all throughout the trip. Toka was not eager to leave her new buddies. Will 100% book again.
Shelby was fantastic with our puppy Kaiya. We knew as soon as we dropped Kaiya off that she was in good hands. We really appreciated how much time she had outside between the dog park and walks. Not to mention she had endless playtime with Arwen. We also received multiple updates and photos over the weekend which we loved. We would definitely recommend Shelby to anyone using Rover!
We had a little trouble with the handoff but everything worked out. You can really tell that Shelby cares about the animals she takes care of. My wife and I are Rover sitters and we felt good about leaving our dogs with her. Even though she's in an apartment, she provides plenty of room for the pups and she brings them over to the close-by dog park or for a walk around the lake. We will definitely use Shelby again if she is available.

For hosting an animal I would like to know if the pets are up to date on vaccines and play nice with others. If they have any exercise needs or preferences that is also good to know. I also would like to know about allergies or medication that come with the animals.
A typical day
Dogs get to go to the dog park twice a day, let out multiple times (potty breaks every 2-4 hours), and if they are up for it, taken for a run around a 3 mile lake. They will get a minimum of 7-8 hrs of my time/day. Other animals get attention as they want or as owner requests. Injection medication and oral medication can be given no problem and I have plenty of experience with senior dogs and special needs dogs. Dogs will be left uncrated if they behave and are trained, if they aren't then they will be kept in the crate, if they have their own, bringing that is appreciated. Your dogs will sleep in my room, either free or in their crate if they prefer.
