Netflix and snuggle?
Pet care experience
I love walking dogs and playing fetch or tug, and snuggling on the couch to watch a movie if I'm staying overnight. Kitties welcomed, too! I know when I go on vacation, leaving my babies is stressful. When you trust me to take care of your fur kids, I will keep them well cared for so you don't have to worry about them while you're away. I maintain close communication via text or phone, as you dictate, including sending cute photos of your babies during my visits, and I can even set up one of my pet cams for you if you don't have one yourself, so you can check in on them in between visits. When I drop in on your pet, I can also water plants, check mail, take trash out on garbage day, and otherwise keep the place looking lived in until you return. My pet care experience: I have a Congo African Grey parrot (she's 25 this year) and have many years' experience caring for birds, in addition to dogs, cats, horses, and even small mammals (rabbits, mice, guinea pigs), tarantulas, and non-venomous reptiles. I had a special needs cat for 8 years and have worked with deaf and blind dogs and horses. Special potty requirements or other accommodations for disability are not a problem. I am certified in pet first aid and CPR (I re-certify annually to stay up to date on best protocols) and practice proper sanitizing practices before handling new animals. All of my own pets are fully vaccinated and on flea prevention. I'm registered as a volunteer foster mom for the Lake City Humane Society, where I occasionally foster kittens until they are old enough to be adopted. Contact me and let's set up a meet and greet! :)
Reviews
Grateful for the service. Cats were alive and healthy- All and all- great job- thank you!
Sheila is an excellent caregiver for our fur babies.
Shelia did a great job taking care of our pups while we had an unexpected out of town funeral to attend. She checked mail for us as well.
Shelia did amazing with my pups. I get so nervous leaving them with strangers but she was no stranger. My pups loved her always got excited to see her. I loved how she had so many experience with different types of species, and their conditions that came with. I also loved that she becomes certified every year in CPR and first aid. I felt super comfortable with Sheila, she sent pictures every day, I’m sure all of us fur parents love that. I Will definitely recommend her to my fellow Rover parents. I most definitely will love for her to watch my pups again ! Thank you Sheila for all that you did !

Skills
Safety, trust & environment
For drop-ins, I wash bowls, administer any meds required, inspect toys and bedding for chew damage/dangerous materials, and make sure the pet's sleeping area or play area is clean and safe. If dogs have access to outdoors, I can walk fence lines and make sure they are secure. I have completed Rover's background check and can provide additional character references upon request.
Information Sheila C. would like to know about your pet
I can handle aloof, shy, or nervous dogs and will take my time earning your pet's trust when I visit, but I would prefer not to handle aggressive animals for safety reasons. Please inform me if you have any concerns in this area.
A typical day
I use positive reinforcement and treats when interacting with your dog. We can play fetch or tug, depending on your dog's physical ability, or go for walks around your neighborhood if they are accustomed to that. If they prefer cuddling, we can take a nap on the couch together. Being away from mom and dad can be stressful, so I go out of my way to make your pet feel as comfortable as possible with me as your stand-in.

Availability
I work during the day as well from home, and I have a pretty flexible schedule so I can rearrange my day as needed to accommodate your needs, within reason. My mornings are usually busier than afternoons/evenings, so some flexibility on morning visits helps.
