Pet care experience
I grew up with dogs and have had two of my very own in my adult life. Coalie, my baby girl, who I got when she was 10 weeks old and cared for her until her last breath at 15. Now we have our buddy, Miles, a rescue. He came into our lives around the age of one and he is a spry 8ish years old. He LOVES friends, so we have been fortunate enough to have been able to dog sit for family and friends through the years and they always have a good, loving, safe stay at our home! Having Coalie for 15 years gave me experience and a soft spot for seniors. As well as caring for dogs of my friends, I have also spent time volunteering at the Portland, OR Humane Soceity. My mom said "here doggie" were my first words and that about sums it up.... the start of a life long love of canines!

Shawn and her husband were great parents for my Beloved Helios. The constant pics and videos reassured me he was loved and cared for and Mikes was a great companion as well. The house and yard were welcoming and conducive for pets. He was walked daily and one happy puppy.!!Gloria

We have a nice sized fully fenced backyard and a dog door to access it, but we're also home all day to be able to let the dogs in and out. Our home is on two levels, so if we need to leave for a bit there is a safe place downstairs for the dogs to stay. We are happy to crate your pup if you prefer. Our dog Miles has access to his crate 24/7 - it is his cave/safe place and he loves it. We'll feed the dogs in separate locations and supervise while eating. We will give lots of love, play, walks and conversation (yep, I talk to my dog often!). Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have! I know I'm nervous every time I leave Miles with someone, so I want to help you feel as comfortable as possible when you leave your fur family with us! Also, I love getting photos of Miles when we're away, so I guarantee I'll be sending you snapshots at least once a day unless you prefer otherwise.
Information Shawn P. would like to know about your pet
I'd like to know if your dog is reactive on a lead when walking, bathroom and eating habits (especially if your dog is a grazer with meals or food aggressive), where your dog prefers to sleep and if we have to leave the dogs alone how would you like that handled. I would also be curious typical wake up time for your pooch and if there are any special needs and what commands your dog knows.
A typical day
We love to go for walks around the neighborhood and to the park a few blocks away. If your dog likes hiking, we live near open space and the canyon and enjoy hiking with the pooches. We also love chill time in the backyard, playing fetch, conversation (yep - I talk to my pups all the time!), lots of loves and snuggling while watching TV in the evenings.

Availability
I am at home full time, so there is ample time for cuddles, potty breaks, walks and play time! We have one dog, Miles, who is a 28lb mix that absolutely loves the company of other pooches and we do too!
