Until recently my life has been full of fur, feather and fin companionships. I secretly believe that I connect more deeply to animals than I do people. In my experience the love an animal shares with a human is intensely loyal and a divine gift to be reciprocated. At this point you may be asking yourself "Why doesn't Shawn have any 4-legged babies now?". Well, my last dog and cat had been with me for 14 and 15 years. (As I indicated earlier I have had pets all through my life. I have lost all to old age. That is a lot of grieving.) The last two to go to heaven broke my heart the deepest. As much as I want to share my home and heart with more fur babies, I am not so sure I could go through grieving another just yet. However, I severely miss that animal human connection. Pet sitting provides the best solution to this dilemma. With pet sitting, I would be able to give loving hugs, walks, belly and ear rubs, play fetch, hear and feel a cats comforting purr! All of these and more I miss greatly. And for the privilege of those activities, I have no trouble scooping up "presents" from the grass or litter box. As for care on a professional basis, about 20 years ago I worked for well know Richmond area pet sitting company part time while working a full time job. I thoroughly enjoyed it and had considered starting my own pet sitting business even though I had signed a 2 year non-compete agreement. I looked into it strongly and felt at that that time setting it up was a bit to daunting. Now, with Rover as a business partner, having a pet sitting business will be a breeze to facilitate.
