Meowllo! Cat Daddy Shawn here. I’ve always liked cats but never thought I’d love them until I owned some myself. My pandemic purchase in 2020 was two domestic short-hair brothers that I adopted from a local animal shelter here in Phoenix, Arizona. One is 6 years old, named Hopi, and the other is 4 years old, named Nino, who is currently purring in my lap as I’m writing my bio. One year into being a new cat daddy, I ended up saving Nino’s life without even knowing it. I noticed he suddenly started showing very low energy, wouldn’t pee in his litter box, and would start peeing a little bit everywhere else like in the living room or on the bedroom carpet. After a couple of days, things did not get better, so I knew this was a serious issue because he couldn’t fully go to the bathroom. Trusting my gut, I immediately took him to the emergency pet hospital and the doctor found tons of crystals in his urine that was blocking his bladder, preventing him from peeing. I knew I had to save his life, so I approved the procedure for them to remove the crystals and clear his urethra so that he can pee again. The doctor told me if I had not brought him in when I did, I would’ve lost my kitty soon after. I had to switch all of my cat’s food to a special prescription diet to prevent crystals from forming in their bladders. They are both currently happy, healthy, and hyper kitties that have saved my life in more ways than one. I have experience administering liquid and pill oral medications as well as liquid ear medicine when my cats had minor colds and dirty ears.
