Hi everyone! My name is Sharn Wilford.

Pet care experience

I am 22 years old, and currently a third year student at Chester University studying Criminology. I am due to graduate this summer and have always had a passion for animals. When I was younger, I always dreamt of pursing a career in The RSPCA, or Animal Control Officer or Police Dog Handler. However, since taking care of my own dogs, I have grown interest in my own dog walking, dog grooming business or even a doggy day care! I have always grown up with pets around me, my home has never been animal free, where I have cared for a variety of breeds ranging from Newfoundland’s and Alsatians to my three current Cocker Spaniels. I have also pet sat relatives animals, that being my Grandparents 11 dogs, where I have stayed at their home, ranging from a couple of days to a couple of weeks whilst they’ve been abroad. My auntie also breeds English bulldogs and I have been hands on helping her with the litter, with also looking after her two Guinea pigs. I have also cared for my step grandmas Rottweiler and my cousins two Siamese cats. I have also been going abroad to Cyprus since I was younger as my Grandparents owned a villa there. Cyprus is renowned for overpopulated stray cats so me, my mum and my eldest sister would actually rescue the cats who were in an awful condition and take them to the rescue centre. I have also completed a months worth of shifts at a local kennel/cattery. There, I’d walk the dogs, feed and brush all animals, clean out their pens and also spent time playing with the animals, making sure that they are happy. As for the cattery, I would clean out their litter trays, make sure they have fresh water and food. And for the friendly ones, lots of strokes! I now currently dog sit my boyfriends Labrador, cockerpoo and colliepoo on a daily basis whilst his parents work long hours and also his cousins Staffie and lurcher when they’re away with work. I have been doing this for 6 years nearly. Luckily, my cocker spaniels are really close with them and we go on regular group walks. I will also feed them, bathe them if necessary and currently give joint medication to his old Labrador (as I do for my own dogs) and take him on a separate short walk. I am also currently taking a pet first aid course online! I hope this has enables you to know a little bit more about me. If any pet owners are looking for a reliable pet sitter/walker to care for them in the comfort of their own home/area, please feel free to message me. I am open to any age, any breed, any height and any animal.

I am fully insured with ‘Protectivity’ whilst pet sitting and dog walking my clients to give any owners a piece of mind. A typical day

I love being able to stimulate a dogs mental and physical stability. My dogs love their snuffle mat which I fill with treats and their licky matts. I tend to do this on a day where they’re super energetic which I normally give their evening meal on or on a rainy day or snowy day where we’re restricted on our walks. It is estimated that 10-20 minutes of licking and playing these types of games is equivalent to an hours dog walk so this could be great for any drop ins to tire your doggy out! As for my dog walks, I’m lucky enough to be able to drive and live near some great walking areas. My favourite destinations are maes y pant which is a nature trail in Gresford and Minera Quarry. My dogs are well behaved and trained off lead and these are some quiet but also great places to go and they love all the different sniffs!

Availability

I am a stay at home third year student who also works part time every Saturday and the occasional odd week days or a Sunday. I dog sit my boyfriends dog majority every week however due to being able to drive and planning my days well this won’t have an impact on any of my clients. In regards to house sitting at the clients home, the maximum amount of days I can do is 7 to potentially 10 and if it’s just the one pooch, if he or she gets on well with other dogs then I’m open to bringing them to my own home if the owner feels comfortable with this. (My dogs are very friendly) With all the services I provide, in regards to a Saturday I can only do after 4pm. Please bare this in mind when booking with me :)
