As the child of a professional dog trainer, I have been around animals of all sorts - dogs, cats, small rodents, snakes, pretty. much anything that can be kept in a house. I have fostered roughly 40 dogs ranging from tiny to giant, and every age range. I have also fostered cats at every age range, including groups of kittens. I can give most medications and am comfortable with shy and fearful animals.

I have a large, fenced yard and live in a super walkable neighborhood close to Rock Creek Park. I have an older resident dog and resident cat who have helped foster every dog and cat that comes through the house. I have a separate basement and bedroom that can be used if needed, especially for cats who may need their own space. I have a crate if needed as well, though there is nearly always someone at home to keep the animals company.

I have spent a lot of time working with shy and fearful dogs, but those are no longer a good fit for my home as I have a young daughter. At 7 years old she is comfortable with dogs and cats, and has helped me foster a number of them in the past three years, but she is still young and prone to fast movement and just being a kid. Please let me know if your dog is familiar with small children, or if we will need to make gradual introductions.
A typical day
We live in a great, walkable neighborhood and love to take long walks in the morning and afternoon, with outside breaks throughout the day and before bed. The old Walter Reed hospital grounds are right across the street and offer plenty of walking trails as well as access to Rock Creek Park. While I can no longer run with my resident dog because of his age, I'd sure love to bring your pup on a run if they are interested!

Availability
I am currently semi-retired and available throughout the day. I do have a child whose school and sports schedule I work around, so most of my availability is during the school day, but I can make time during the day with advance notice.
