Some people are born animal lovers by nature. That is the best way I can describe the amount of love I have for animals. I was born into a very large family and even bigger animal family. Some of my first memories include learning to walk while being toppled over by cats and dogs. When I was about 8 years old, my father was very strict on not wanting anymore animals..ever. To my dismay, I decided to walk around the neighborhood and try to volunteer my time at places I knew had animals. Unfortunately, there were not any animal shelters in my area at the time so my expedition was mostly stops at my local PetSmart and a small veterinary hospital. Apparently I had to learn the hard way that you can't just volunteer to work with animals anywhere and especially not at 8 years old. I still had one more card in my pocket! I gathered up 3 of my bestfriends and started a neighborhood dog walking business. We made flyers, put them in everyone's mailbox, and waited for the phone to ring. It was actually very successful and lasted about 4 years up until I moved away. I recall arriving to the house to get the dogs, taking them to the neighborhood park to run around, and ending their walk with a trip to the pet store so they could pick out one of the gourmet treats that were always on display. Fast forward and I am a young adult living in a house and still no pets! Now I fill my heart by volunteering at PAWS Animal Shelter and being apart of Rover!
