I have been caring for animals professionally for over fifteen years. I have an undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry specializing in the study of human and animal behavior, a Masters in Business Administration, and a Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis. I owned an in-home dog training business and also worked with the care and training of 15 different species of animals. Behavior is a passion of mine so I am happy to give extra dog training tips to any of my clients. I would love to get to know your "family member" as I believe every dog has their own personality! I work from my home with a fairly flexible schedule so I will have plenty of time to spend with your dog throughout the day.

Shana took great care of our senior dog, who requires several daily medications and frequent walks. She has significant professional animal care experience, and we would not hesitate to use her again. She left detailed notes, kept us updated during our trip, and even watered our plants. Shana was excellent with Hugo, who can be a bit difficult to walk. He's a stubborn bulldog-boxer mix who likes to test boundaries, play with every dog that he meets, and tends to both pancake and pull on walks. She walked him better than we do and gave us some great dog training tips that we started to implement. He now walks better with us and is getting much better at waiting for the front doors and elevator doors to open. She asked all the right questions during our meet and greet and we feel confident leaving our dog's care in her hands.

I do not have any breed preferences (but I absolutely LOVE labradoodles), however I do like know the dog's history. How are they with other dogs? How are they around people, kids, men, etc? Do they walk on a leash? Are they crate trained? How are they if no one is home for a few hours? Do they have a history of separation anxiety or aggression? All dogs are unique and respond differently in different environments so I think it is important to be prepared for any situation.
A typical day
**PLEASE NOTE: I have opened my travel radius to include the Bethesda/Potomac/Rockville area. I am only available in these areas on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays as well as some weekends.** I typically like to find a safe place to take dogs on walks like a park or trail. I live close to the southwest D.C. waterfront but my pups really like to walk just about anywhere. I am a very active person so I like to get out for a walk a few times a day and often take dogs for runs if I am familiar with the area.
