Pet care experience

All Sizes Welcome!

Hello! My name is Shana and I've lived with animals of all shapes and sizes all my life. I now own a very sweet Great Pyrenees who wouldn't hurt a fly, and a very playful rescue Chocolate Lab mix. I am comfortable with dogs of any size and breed. I am also very comfortable with cats. When I am caring for your pet, they will be treated just as my own - all the treats and cuddles imaginable! I'm a very responsible pet owner, but I personally know the anxiety that comes with leaving your fur baby in some else's care, so I want you to feel as comfortable and at ease as possible. I will follow your word to the letter, and provide as many updates/pictures as you need. I also will not hesitate to ask/clarify something with you if I'm unsure about a situation because I know that's what I would want from a sitter. I can't wait to meet your furry family! *** If you are a new client, please contact me with enough time before the date of service for us to organize a meet and greet with each other in a public setting, as well as one where I meet the animal(s) I will be caring for and shown where their food, bowls, treats, litter, leash, etc. are kept. The amount of advanced notice will vary depending on both of our schedules, but I would say if it's possible, at least 1 week in advance to be safe ***

Shana was wonderful. When I first got the photos I was upset because Nelly looked like she didn’t miss me . I know she did and actually was happy she was getting excellent care. I was able to enjoy my vacation I will do use Shana again.

Shana was professional and personable! She gave me peace of mind to care for my puppy while I am at work. She sent pics while she's with my fur baby and thinks of the details what he may need. I would highly recommend Shana!

Schedule

I just graduated and this is the only job I'm doing right now, so I'm pretty open! My only limitation is that I do not walk dogs for exercise at night/after dark. I will still let them outside to use the bathroom if it's a night-time drop-in, but will not spend any more time outside than is necessary.

Each situation is different so I am willing to make exceptions, but generally, I do prefer that the dog (or especially if it's more than one dog in a household) be on a chain or in a crate when I arrive. Dogs are amazing and are willing to protect their homes at all costs, so I try to avoid the dogs feeling threatened by my presence when their owner isn't there to assure them. If your dog was feeling protective of their home, it would be easier for me to calm them and reassure them while they are still restrained opposed to them meeting me at the door as I came in. I wouldn't have time to calm them safely, and they could lunge. And if I am caring for more than one dog on the medium/large side who could have the potential to get protective and territorial, I prefer caring for them one at a time so there is no opportunity for their pack mentality to kick in. I see my own dogs as perfect angels and trust them completely, but I have also seen them fight with each other over food and attention. The takeaway is that dogs are still animals at the end of the day - unpredictable in nature. As much as I trust my dogs, I logically couldn't say that they would NEVER hurt someone. I would say the chance is almost zero, but there's always some chance. I feel that concept rings true for all animals. It only takes one time to leave permanent scars, so I would prefer to be safe rather than sorry.
