Active, lifelong dog lover (WFH)

Pet care experience

I've been a dog owner since I was a kid - grew up with a Boxer then a Frenchie and recently we said goodbye to another good boy named Kimbo, a loving and boisterous Boxer mix whom we miss terribly. We're not ready to get another dog, but our small daughter absolutely adores animals of all sorts and so we've decided we are ready to start welcoming dogs into our home. I've always considered my pets to be family members and have always provided them the utmost care, love and attention to ensure they are healthy and happy and thriving. I have experience caring for large and small dogs, including dogs with physical disabilities. Later in life, my boxer Kimbo developed degenerative myelopathy (DM) which caused paralysis and affected his ability to walk without assistance, so I had to learn to take care of a disabled dog and administer various oral medications daily. I live in a quiet suburban neighborhood with good access to dog parks, human parks and trail runs so your doggo can get exercise and let them play and be as energetic as they like. I play soccer and enjoy hiking, running and biking, so I'll be able to keep up with the active lifestyle of your pet. If your dog is more of a couch potato, that's cool, too, we can hang out, watch Netflix and play tug of war or fetch. I also have a gated back deck they can lounge on that's pretty spacious (although the back yard isn't fully fenced). I still have plenty of dog things around the house to make your dog comfortable (dog beds/pillows, chew toys, kennel big enough for a ~90lb dog, etc.). I have a 13 year old cat in the house named Chester, but he's grown up and spent 10+ years with his dog brother, and he generally keeps to himself and will likely be in different part of our split-level home anyway. I've been a Rover user for many years now and have trusted Kimbo's care with many sitters in different states. I understand that leaving your bff with a stranger is a big decision and that there's inherently a lot of trust and mutual understanding that goes into it. While I'm new to Rover as a sitter and I hope you will trust me with caring for your furry friend, I am no stranger to taking care of dogs of all sizes and love their company.

We felt very comfortable leaving our 2 year old Labradoodle with Serge the second we met him. He pays very close attention to the particular details and needs of your dog and makes sure to follow up with you if anything is unclear. Our dog was with him for 6 days and Serge sent us multiple updates with pictures each day. Our family was never worried, because we felt assured that our dog is in good and capable hands. You can tell that Serge has a lot of experience with dogs. We will certainly use Serge's services again and highly recommend him.

Serge was an incredible match for our disabled dog, Zulu!! That Serge had experience working paraplegic pups was great, but that Serge also had such a positive attitude about the extra effort needed to care for dog like ours was phenomenal! Our chocolate lab experienced a freak spinal cord injury at the end of January this year, and our biggest anxiety was finding adequate dog-sitting for her new/special needs in life. Serge & his family rose to the challenge & integrated Zulu into their home life with ease - Zulu loved him, loved his wife & loved his little daughter all the same; Zulu had a truly great time living them in their home for a week while we were away for a family vacation abroad. You can't really go wrong with a good one like Serge - he's got a heart of gold and is ready & willing to go above & beyond for your pup. We can't wait for the next time we get to utilize Serge's services again because Zulu will be so happy to visit them!!

Serge is absolutely fantastic! It’s so abundantly clear how much of a dog lover he and his family are. We were concerned about finding a sitter for our dog Zulu who is paralyzed in her back legs and needs help relieving herself - not an easy task to manage. When we found Serge’s profile and spoke to him about his experience with mobility-impaired dogs our nervousness was put at ease. There’s no one I would trust more than him. It’s clear that our dog had a great time, and she came home extremely content and tired :) Thank you Serge!

Serge is quick to respond to messages and questions and sent us a lot of updates and pictures during Winter's stay. Winter enjoyed going for walks every day. I would definitely leave my pupper with Serge again.

Safety, trust & environment

I want to provide your dog the most comfortable and familiar environment to what they're used to at home -- from their daily routine, to meals and playtime, to where they like to hang out. We have no issues with dogs being on couches or beds with us, but are also happy to respect your own rules and training so they don't come home with any bad habits you don't allow. We have a decently sized fenced back deck (10x20 feet) and while our yard isn't fully fenced, your dog will be able to play and explore our 12,000-sq-ft lot under supervision. If your dog has any special care instructions, dietary needs or needs to have oral medication administered, I'm very familiar with all of those. Cedar Plaza Vet Clinic is a 3-minute drive away should any medical issues arise and we've used them for both of our pets.

Information Serge S. would like to know about your pet

Any medical conditions, dietary restrictions or anything else health-related for your pet would be good to know ahead of time. Additionally, if your dog has any behaviors I should be aware of, such as aggression towards or fear of other dogs, small children, delivery drivers, etc. or chewing and/or consumption of expensive shoes or furniture or inedible objects in general would be much appreciated.

We can go to the Mountlake Terrace dog park, jog around many little dog trails I know around Brier, or take a drive to Edmonds, Meadowdale Beach Park or Richmond Beach to run along the beach, play in the sand or simply watch the boats go by.
