Pet care experience
I have been an animal caregiver for more than 20 years and have taken care of dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, sheep and birds. In addition to having a lot of experience, I can offer basic training for dogs and horses including positive reinforcement and natural horsemanship (i. e. Parelli games and round penning). I am also comfortable riding English and Western styles. I also have a lot of knowledge and experience taking care of cats and have managed to tame some feral ones into being adopted into loving homes. Besides taking care of animals, I have also taken care of large estates as well as farms and private residences in the Boston and Los Angeles areas, as well as internationally in Italy, Uruguay and Argentina. High values are important to me and giving peace of mind with responsibility and reliability is something I strive for. I have recently relocated to the Western NYS area to be closer to family and am happy to be at your service.

Serena takes care of our 13-year-old dog and young cat as well as our recently obtained chicks. I believe that exercise, attention and training cure 90% of pet issues, so I do not like animals to be alone too long especially since they me be a little anxious with their families away. I also have no issues doing horse care or caring for other farm animals.

Please let me know if there are any particular issues you are having with your pet. I can introduce tips and tricks to help with behavior as consistency is of the upmost importance. It is super important to know if your pet has ever had any aggressive behavior. Any at-risk breeds may require me to be there before the owner leaves so as to reduce any dangerous territory responses, even if they have never shown any before.
A typical day
HORSES: I can play Parelli games and other basic training techniques. I am comfortable with round penning as well as riding English and Western style. DOGS: I love to provide long walks/hikes, car rides and playing fetch. CATS: Cats are all so different but if they have a lot of energy, I can provide plenty of play.

Availability
I am a freelance writer creating my own hours, which allows myself to be available to your pets full time. I do not do boarding at this time and prefer to stay where the animal is most comfortable. I believe dogs need more time and attention so I am not comfortable crating a dog for a long period of time. I am fine to travel outside of my area but may incur travel time pay if far.
