Love all animals and play time!

Pet care experience

I have had cats and dogs my whole life. I have trained 4 dogs on potty training and tricks like sit and stay. I enjoy bathing dogs and bringing them to different parks to play and run. My dogs and cat are very cat friendly and we have plenty of cat toys and a cat tower right by the window! I am working part time so I am free 3-4 days a week to tend to your animals. On the days I work I work from 2pm-9pm and my husband is normally home around those times so they will have constant supervision. I have a fenced in back yard and 2 playful dogs to keep your babies entertained. There is a park 3 minutes from my house for even more room to play. We also have a big dog crate for just incase.

Sitter didn’t respond to texts and phone calls the morning/afternoon on the day of booking. Our dog went into heat that morning and we needed to get into contact with her. Lack of communication ended us not being able to continue with the plans.

Please read this "response" to Rover's care team about my poor and unfortunate experience. My furbabe was never found. "Dear Emily, Thank you for your patience in my response. I wanted to make sure my response was indeed “responsive vs reactive” as there was so much emotion to account for. Although, Mr. Dexter was inside/outside at our previous residence in California, he did not ever have “escape” tendencies. He loved to be inside and went out to the backyard with me and his dog-brother. We had just relocated to Mississippi and in transition stopped in a few places overnight-at which Mr. Dexter did so amazing! As long as he knew his brother was present all was “right at home”. This information I did communicate with the Serena. I am going to be completely honest. We chose Serena initially because her communication was impeccable. When we arrived in Mississippi, without hesitation she agreed on having a meet and greet on short notice. It was at the meet and greet my spouse and I decided it wasn’t a good fit for future bookings, but we were in a bind and there was no time for looking elsewhere. Our dog is large and when we visited the space it was very small in which she had I think 3 dogs in kennels + 2 free roaming. There were two other human guests there in the small space playing video games and vaping. Serena walked me through the kitchen straight to her bedroom about 6-8 steps from the living/holding area. That is where she slept and her cat slept under the bed with his litter box. It is not my business nor right to judge people’s living standards when it comes to cleanliness, but visuals are visuals (litter, dirt, trash, blood?, and mud) in the spaces where one could walk and on walls (but again, dogs to consider). The dogs seemed very happy and they responded well to her and she to them. Now when I flew back from Chicago to go try and find Mr. Dexter, I came to what I for sure counted 6 dogs not including my own and it was chaotic!! .. but, dogs. If that is the environment provided more consistently, Definitely not a place for cats. Serena has a window unit that sits low and the little slide cover on the side presented with a tear/hole through which I can imagine any frightened cat would want to escape. Serena had provided updates on our dog, but not Mr. Dexter until I asked how he was doing. I didn’t think too much about that though-she said, “I think he and her cat we’re keeping each other company”. And so hopefully he had always been still in her care. She texted me and called me as soon as he was indeed missing so I do appreciate that. I took most of the flyers Rover provided and went house to house through her neighborhood and she also went in her own car to post some flyers in the community. While I was getting settled with my own dog outside in her driveway all the dogs inside burst out the front door into a few different directions (side neighbors and across the street). Not a good look for someone who just lost their fur kid. Notes: *the cat tower mentioned in Serena’s profile sits not really in the window, but amidst all the kennels/dogs in the small space *when I created a Rover account my profile was sent back bc pictures/summary needed to show where the animals will sleep, play, what they have access to—-I didn’t see these visuals on Serena’s profile *the morning after the meet and greet, my Intuition/Gut/Universe woke me screaming ‘DON’T leave them there’. I failed to listen to that voice and I saw in what conditions the animals were care for AND I did not listen. Therefore, I can’t be upset at anyone but myself and I cannot blame anyone but myself. NOTE-always trust your gut."

No stars. I never met Serena, instead the “roommate” showed up after waiting 15 minutes after the scheduled drop off time. The home conditions were pretty dirty / not ideal but I was trying not to be judgmental. My dog has Fi collar so I was able to see her activity, sleep and location though out her stay. Serena did not actively reach out but did respond to messages I sent. On the 3rd and 4th day, my dogs activity dropped drastically and we decided to head home early. I contacted beforehand and coordinated a pick up time. I arrived on time to find one of the house dogs that was there during drop off sitting outside, huddling in a corner and my dog was inside locked in a crate. My dog didn’t even respond when I called her through the window which was very uncharacteristic. Based on her activity and sleep, she had been there since the evening before with a brief break. The “roommate” showed up about 10 minutes later (again instead of Serena) and I asked if my dog had been in a crate all day?! She said no, she just left to get something to eat and I told her the activity collar proves otherwise. She then started talking about how Serena left town last minute and left her dog outside too/leaving her to care for the Rovers. I grabbed my dog and left. I do not recommend if you are looking for a loving in-home caregiver for your dog.

Serena B. was awesome! This was mine and my dog's first time using Rover and boarding him with someone for a couple days. I was nervous the first day or so but this was a fantastic experience and I will definitely leave Everest with her when we go on vacation again. :) thank you again Serena!

A typical day

My backyard is enough for potty time and small dogs to play. I have a park 3 minutes away from my house that is gated and I love to bring my dogs there to play fetch and tug. There is also a dog park 10 minutes by car ride from my house I sometimes go to so my dogs can play with out her dogs. I have a nice neighborhood with minimal car traffic perfect for walking. I enjoy bringing dogs to new trails, the beach, and even a lake I like to swim in. We have a pop proof floaty for doggy breaks in the water.
