Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Selah (Say-la), and I’ve been taking care of all types of animals since I was about 10 years old - from dogs and cats, to fish and even reptiles! I was responsible for walking, grooming, and pet sitting my neighbors dogs whenever they left town, as well as my own pups. Spending time with animals is very therapeutic, and I highly value their presence in my life and the benefits we can share with one another. I take the well-being of all living things very seriously, and guarantee that I’ll give your pets the highest level of love and care I can provide! I believe in treating all animals as my own, which is why I’m always my friends first call when it comes to needing help with their pets - and hopefully for you as well! EXPERIENCE My dog back home is an 8 year old, 140 lb. German Shepard Rottweiler, so I have experience with handling large-breed dogs. Additionally, we had a purebred Cocker Spaniel (very wild pup!), so I have experience with smaller dogs as well. My current dog is an Australian Shepard Lab mix (~45 lbs.), and she is the center of my life! I love her with all my heart, and trained her as a service animal to assist me with my disability/ everyday functioning. In addition to dogs, my dad has two cats back home, and my previous roommates had two cats as well. I was usually the sitter when they had to leave, so I got lots of bonding time with both male and female cats over the past 5 years! I love them but am allergic, so I usually keep the cuddling to a minimum to avoid a severe reaction.

CARE I live in a one-bedroom apartment with a yard, so not ideal for more than 2-3 animals (including my own). However, since I have a car and lots of parks nearby, it’s easy for me to do animal-friendly activities outside of the home. I take my dog, Higgs, for 1-2 walks every day. I make sure to take different paths and adventure outside of our normal routine, to provide her with positive stimulation. Higgs is a social eater, so I feed her every morning with her full amount of food, then give her the freedom to eat whenever she’s comfortable throughout the day. I trim her nails 1-2 times a month and file them to make sure they don’t break, and give her a bath when I notice a dull coat (once a month). I do not believe in giving my dog any substances I would not consume myself, so I give her filtered (Britta- nothing too crazy) water whenever we’re at home. I also try to buy fruits, veggies, and natural snacks as treats (including cheese!) - but NOT peanut butter (she is allergic). I do not walk my dog when the pavement is too hot or cold without her booties, and I also put them on for hikes to avoid messing up her paw-pads. As for other pets, I care for them according to the owner’s instructions (exactly), and will not deviate from how they want their pet to be cared for unless told otherwise. Every animal has a bond with their owner based on routine, and my job as a caretaker is to follow that routine to my best ability.

OTHER Behaviors with other dogs, barking tendencies, what I should watch out for when walking them, what toys they enjoy, if they have debilitating physical ailments, etc. - the important stuff!
A typical day
ACTIVITIES I love going to the local Boulder dog parks, or even just for walks around the neighborhood. There’s also the creek, hikes, and so much more! My special places to walk are quieter areas like the graveyard on 9th, or through neighborhoods outside of The Hill.

SCHEDULE I’m taking the summer off from school and I work from home, so I’m around just about all day, every day. I prefer to not work after 6pm on any given day, and am occasionally gone on weekends to see family or go camping.
