Experience with special needs dogs
Pet care experience
I grew up with dogs, from Bichons to Pit Bull mixes to a Bernese Mountain Dog/Corgi mix. Those dogs have had health issues such as kidney diseases, ear infections, thyroid conditions, and arthritis (or as we called it in our house, “arf-ritis”). When I attended UMBC I volunteered to walk dogs for BARCS (Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter) which takes in surrendered pets and feral animals confiscated by Baltimore Animal Control. I worked with them for three years until I graduated, then started up again in their new facility back in 2021 and I still volunteer there once a week!

Scout was wonderful with my two cats. Although one was elusive for the 4 days we were gone. The other one is very social and enjoyed her time with Scout. Scout gave her plenty of play time during her visits. I really appreciated Scout being able to take care of our girls on such short notice. Will definitely be using her again. Thank you.

If your dog has any limitations due to health issues, let me know. I can take them for shorter walks if they can't be out for too long, or if they need a special harness please make sure it is where I can find it.
A typical day
If the dog has a favorite toy we can bring along I will play with them, or if you are teaching your dog some tricks I can work on that with them. I like walking in the woodsy trails, so if your home is close to one we can definitely explore those!

Thursdays are my BARCS days, but otherwise my schedule is open. I currently live in an apartment where I can't have a pet, so I'd be happy to come take care of yours!
