I have a moderate size yard and a regular bathroom/feeding schedule for my two dogs. They have a specific area in the house that is gated and separation of pets can occur if needed. I also have an extra large crate that can be used if crate sleeping or a safe space is needed. In a client's home, I have an attentiveness to the requests made that will help the pet feel more comfortable. My previous work experience had me entering up to 10 different customer homes, most of which had pets of some kind. I was in this role for 7 years and never had a negative pet experience, as I use different methods of allowing animals to learn who I am before expecting their trust. In my opinion, the initial greeting is what matters the most.
