Pet care experience

I have had dogs my whole life. When I was born, I lived with a female German Shepard who would never let me get hurt. I also had a Golden Retriever that would go on his own walks, and come home that night. Over the course of my life I've lived with 12 dogs. My family currently has 7 dogs and lives in the suburbs of Weston, 20 minutes away. I visit 1-2 times a week and take them for walks. I have 4 Bernese mountain dogs because two got pregnant and we had puppies in the house with a puppy midwife! My father also brings his German Shepard and Border Collie mix that he adopted to work every day. We all walk the dogs on the weekends in the woods around my home town. My brother and I helped train his pit-bull and she currently lives in the basement of my parents house. All the dogs get along with each other. I miss not living with a dog 24/7 so I would LOVE to help you all out and take care of your doggies when you are busy! I sell real estate here in Boston so I can work from anywhere. I have a lot of free time when I'm not showing apartments, so helping you all out and taking care of dogs will make me very happy! I hope you consider me to be your dog sitter, walker and more!

Scarlett did very well walking my dog, who is very shy and skittish. She made sure his food and water bowls were full, and walked him in the Common and kept me updated with his health and eating, as well as walks.

Strongly NOT recommended. We hired her for dog sitting in our apartment and found out after arriving back that Scarlett had neglected our dog (Luna), disrespected our home, and lied about the services that she was providing. TLDR: she left our dog without bathroom breaks for 19+ hours, came home at 2 am, and brought strange men into our home to stay the night and sleep in our bed. All confirmed with security footage. My first clue that something wasn't right was when Scarlett texted me one day at 10 am with a cute photo of Luna saying " look what I just woke up to". I was surprised that she was just waking up at 10 am, since we told her that Luna goes out at 8 or 9 am at the latest, but I wasn't overly concerned (yet). The next morning I texted Scarlett at 8 am about our returning travel plans...no response...texted again around 9:30 am...no response....called at 11 am....no answer. Eventually, I had to call our building's concierge at 11:15 am to ask if Luna had been out that morning. He said no, and had to pound on our apartment door for several minutes to wake Scarlett up at 11:30 a.m. I was told that Luna was barking loudly yet unable to come to the door, which leads us to believe she was locked in her crate without access to water or food. Scarlett reportedly smelled of alcohol and didn't take Luna out that day until noon. On the phone with me, Scarlett said that Luna had been out at midnight the night before (I later found out this was false) and that she had woken up at 8 am (ironically because Scarlett had to go to the bathroom, go figure), but that Luna "seemed fine", and so Scarlett fell back asleep for a few hours. When we returned home, our concierge told us that Scarlett had not done a very good job watching Luna, and offered to let us review our building's security footage. When we did, we found out that Scarlett did not take Luna out at midnight as she claimed, nor had she taken her out AT ALL since 5 pm the day before (19 hours!!!!). In fact, Scarlett returned to our home at 2 am and brought with her a "gentleman caller" without our knowledge or permission, who stayed the night and presumably slept with her in our bed. If Scarlett had asked permission beforehand to have a serious boyfriend visit, that may have changed our feelings, but a stranger that we had never met (and Luna had never met) brought home at 2 am and leaving the next day at noon is unacceptable. Scarlett did not ever mention this to us; we only know because of the security footage in our building and witness by the concierge and a neighbor. Our upstairs neighbor told me that Luna was barking so loudly around 2 am that it woke her and her dog up. I imagine other neighbors were woken as well. As a result of Scarlett's care, we had to take Luna to the vet for a wound on her face (which we were told is consistent with pets trying to escape a crate or home due to urgency to go out) as well as a possible UTI from holding it. We explicitly told Scarlett that Luna's crate is only used for her to retreat to as desired and that we do not close the door on her in there; I sincerely hope that she was not truly locked in there as it is too small for those purposes and provides no access to food or water. We also had to purchase new bedsheets, as we didn't want to share our bedding with Scarlett's intimate encounters. The most frightening part is that Scarlett was in our home from Wednesday night until Sunday afternoon (except for Thanksgiving Day). All of the events described took place between Saturday evening and Sunday -- only 1 of the nearly 4 days that Scarlett watched Luna -- it frightens me to think of what else may have occurred. I know that she took Luna to spend at least one day at her apartment, as she told this to our concierge (when asked where they had been) but this was never told to us. She did ask permission to "stop by to grab something" as needed, but we paid her for housesitting in our home for an explicit reason. There is still so much security footage to go through and I fear for what else I will learn. DO NOT TRUST SCARLETT with your beloved pet or your home. She claims that she is a dog lover, but anyone who cared about animals would never leave one alone for 19+ hours without a bathroom break and lie about it. Nor would any conscientious and professional sitter return home at 2 am with male guests, especially knowing that our dog is nervous around strangers and how much time we invested in making sure Luna was comfortable with Scarlett. We have been completely heartbroken about this ordeal and been in contact with Rover regarding the horrible experience. I truly hope this never happens to anyone else.

Information Scarlett T. would like to know about your pet

Any breed works with me. I want to make sure they don't bite. I will want to know if they get along with certain dogs? If they like Female/Male dogs? If they are scared of children? If they were adopted and scared of glasses/hats etc.

A typical day

I live next to a park, so I will walk them around here briefly just to pee and poop. I love taking my dogs to the Arboretum and Blue Hills to walk and exercise around there. If they like running on the beach, I will take them up to Revere Beach, Nantasket and even Singing Beach in Manchester By The Sea in the off season when they allow the dogs. There are tons of mountains outside of the city and woods close to my home town in Weston, Lincoln, Wellesley and Dover that I would drive them out to and walk on full days.
