Pet care experience
Hi! I've been a sitter on Rover since 2015 and currently work part-time as an animal care tech. I was a foster volunteer for Alachua County Animal Services for a couple of years and now volunteer occasionally through the Humane Society of North Central Florida. I'm comfortable around chickens, pigs, snakes, rabbits, birds, fish, special needs animals, and have a few years of experience with horses. I'm happy to service animals that need extra care, provided I'm left with instructions to do so. I've administered oral and subcutaneous medication to dogs and cats, and performed post-surgical physical therapy with two long-time clients' dogs who've happily made full recoveries. I make an effort to handle anything that comes my way by familiarizing myself with your pets' quirks and habits and will always leave your home tidy. You'll receive updates of your animals and photos whenever possible, though sometimes it takes me a while to edit them - I like putting my art degree to good use in small ways! I typically bring in mail and water plants, and if you can let me know when your trash and recycling gets picked up, that will be taken care of while you're gone too. I'm allergic to cats and prefer to house-sit where there's at least one cat free room for me to sleep in (and ideally some allergy medication as backup, though I usually bring my own). Long term exposure to cats makes me break out in hives or makes my face swell :( I don't accept bookings with aggressive animals that can't be handled safely (food/cage aggressive, territorial, or confrontational/predatory with other dogs). For dogs who aren't leash trained, I ask that owners provide appropriate tools for me to walk them, like a front clip harnesses or prong collars; this is as much for their safety as mine. If your dog is an escape artist who likes to slip out of their collar, I recommend using a martingale to prevent this. Proper tools and good communication set us up for success, and sets you up for complete peace of mind while you're away. As of April 2019, my puppy rate is $45. This is because they require more supervision and have frequent accidents that require thorough cleanup to prevent them in the future. Although they may do well when you're at home, it's common for puppies to have more accidents when you're away -- having a sitter seems to throw them for a loop. I'll always disinfect thoroughly and will scrub out the carpet whenever necessary, as long as I have the supplies to do so. ***** If you've never hired an overnight sitter, here are some helpful basics! 1) Leave plenty of pet supplies including pet food, cat litter, and any necessary medication (with instructions if they're different than indicated on the label). For your sitter, don't forget to leave bathroom supplies, fresh sheets and towels, cleaning supplies (both for pet related accidents or just to clean up after themselves), and human food. Some home owners leave extra groceries specifically for their sitters, but as long as you have ingredients to make food with, you don't have to go out of your way. 2) I'll replenish pet supplies if you run out, though I do charge a $15 additional service fee in addition to reimbursement for supplies which can be done through a price adjustment via Rover. This also applies if your pet is a power chewer and destroys something essential (like their leash or collar). If they have a habit of doing this, please warn me so I can be careful (ex: removing collars when not on walks and storing them in a safe location away from their teeth). 3) Always let me know if your pets have frequent accidents or aren't housebroken so I can take steps to prevent messes, or factor cleanups into the cost of the booking to have all our bases covered. 4) Be sure to leave behind emergency numbers (relatives, trusted neighbors, vet, etc.). 5) Be transparent! Don't be embarrassed if your animals are loony-toons or hard to handle: the more honest you are, the more likely you are to find a sitter that's perfect for you, and being adequately prepared makes a huge difference for all of us so we can have a smooth and enjoyable booking. That's about it! Feel free to call or text me with any questions prior to booking. If I sound like the right sitter for you, I look forward to hearing from you and meeting your family. :]
Reviews
She did an amazing job with the dogs and house! Extremely reliable and flexible!
Scarlett was simply amazing. We had a last minute trip and she was able to make it work it. She was communicative, thoughtful and direct. On our way back we were delayed by traffic etc, and she offered to swing by and take care even though she was already done. Our dog was happy, confident and well-cared for. I'm one of those dog-parents that usually spends a significant amount of time worrying while I'm away and Scarlett was able to allow me a truly worry-free vacation; which is priceless. We'd be happy to have her back and Weezie agrees:)
Outstanding visits once again. For us it’s either grandmas house or Scarlett. She pays the utmost attention to our pets. We would recommend her to anyone who looks for only the best. Knowledgeable, dependable, and loving. Thank you Scarlett.
We use Scarlett all the time and she’s absolutely the best. I’m always so relieved when we are able to book her because I know the pups will be taken care of as if they were her own.

Does your pet have separation anxiety? If so, how can I best work around it to keep them comfortable and keep your apartment intact? Do they need to be crated when I shower or if I step out for a short time to get the mail? Do they bark or scratch at the bedroom door at night if not allowed in?
A typical day
I enjoy taking dogs to the park for walks if I have the time so we can all have a relaxing evening. Over the holidays, sometimes I add special treats to their meals with your approval (pumpkin puree, a little bit of beef broth, boiled chicken, frozen treats etc.) so they can celebrate too. However, I avoid dog parks as a precaution to prevent altercations with your dog and others. If your apartment complex has an on-site dog park, let me know what hours are the slowest so I can take them when it's likely to be empty. I love lounging with the pets but am committed to tiring out very energetic ones. One of my clients leaves me the family car to take the dogs out to their farm in Micanopy at least once every other day so they don't get too restless. Whatever your pets need to stay entertained, I'm on it!
