Pet Depot Worker/ Shelter Volunteer

Pet care experience

I currently work at a high-rated Doggy Daycare and Boarding Facility. Because of my job, I know all the wonderful things that are offered in a facility like that but also what I can offer as an independent dog sitter that cannot be offered in a boarding facility. I have a lot of knowledge and hands-on experience with different dog breeds and personalities (and cats too!). I have also been fostering dogs and cats with a local shelter for 5 years. I have worked with animals with physical injuries, medical conditions, past abuse/neglect history, as well as behavioral issues. I don't discriminate against breeds or sizes. I maintain a clean and loving home to ensure your pup is safe and happy. When your pup stays at my place, they will receive a unique, safe, and loving experience. I have three sweet adorable pups. They were all originally dogs that I fostered through the shelter I volunteer for. They all have three legs. Dexter, my oldest, was in a car accident down south and had nerve damage so he had his leg amputated when he was around a year old. He is now 4 years old. Nana had her leg removed when she was only 3 months old. Her mother was a stray and Nana had somehow broken and dislocated her leg while they were on the streets so by the time the shelter had a hold of her, there was too much damage and it had to be removed. Nana is now a year old. Despite their missing legs, my pups still get around rather quickly and act like normal dogs (just a bit more clumsy!). Dexter loves toys and tends to ignore other dogs. Nana tends to keep to herself but enjoys playing with gentle pups. Our home offers a unique experience because we live in a two family home with a spacious fenced in yard. I live on one side with my boyfriend while my parents occupy the other side. This means that even if I am not home for a few hours, your pup will almost never be home alone. Having access to both sides of my house also means that if your pup comes from a single-dog household and needs a break from the company of my dogs, I can always send my pups to hangout on my parents side so I can offer your dog some one-on-one time with me. I also try to cater your dogs stay as much as I can to their lifestyle and rules at home. For example, if your pup is allowed on furniture at home, I will allow them on mine. But if you have strict no-furniture rules at home, I will enforce that while they stay with me to make sure they don't pick up any bad habits. We don't feed our pups table scraps, allow them in the garbage, or to drink out of the toilet. If your pup has allergies and can only eat specific treats that you provide, I make sure to make my whole family aware not to feed them any other treats. When it comes to bed time, I can almost always accommodate people's requests. Whether your dog sleeps in your bed, in a crate, or loose throughout the house, I will do my best to match their home routine during their stay with me. Since bed time and feeding time can be the most stressful, I always put extra care and effort into it. If your pup sleeps in my bedroom with me, the only other dog in the room will be Dexter. If you prefer them to be crated or loose throughout the house, they will be the only dog there. When I feed your dog, i also will make sure they are the only dog in the house during feeding this way they do not feel stressed or pressured by having other dogs around and they can take their time. Please contact me with any more questions you have. Your dog's safety and comfort as well as your peace of mind are my priorities. I do my best to provide routine updates and pictures throughout their stay. If the updates I send are not frequent enough, just shoot me a text and I'll let you know what your pups been up to! I encourage parents and pups to come by for a meet and greet before they schedule a stay with me. They usually last 30-60 minutes. I will have you enter through my back yard and allow your pup to walk around for a while and sniff things out. Then I let each one of my dogs into the yard one at a time to introduce themselves to your pup. *I do not double book dogs. I will take multiple dogs if they are from the same owner. The only times I ever double book are usually only if two "stays" overlap by a day or two. However, I will only double book if I already know the dog from the other family and feel comfortable with them. I also will make both owners aware and ask their permission before allowing other dogs around their pup.*

I never write bad reviews but I have had some very nerve racking experiences with Rover sitters and Savannah was one of them. We hired her to house sit our dogs for 5 days and asked our next door neighbor to keep an eye on things. On the second day, they informed me that they had seen neither Savannah or my dogs. At that point I started texting and calling her with no response. After two days of trying to reach her, she finally responded to me through the rover site. When we returned home, our dogs were there and very freaked out. We can only surmise that she kept them at her house without our permission. If we knew she wanted to do that, we would have done an introduction for them at her house and taken some of their things so that they had something familiar with them. Just a heads up for those that might be considering Savannah. Jean

I do think my Dog had a great time and she was very kind. Unfortunately, my dog ate a lot of small toys while staying at her place and resulting in him becoming sick and ultimately needing surgery to remove a foreign body from his small intestines that was stuck. Thankfully he survived the surgery, its unfortunate that I have to write this. My dog is only 14 months old and now had to be cut open. The reason I believe this happened at the sitter is because he was throwing up small toys that we had never seen before or owned in our house. Additionally he became sick the night we got him back and ultimately had to take him to the hospital the next day. I dont have many qualms with Savannah, I recommend to not let dogs eat toys and may more attention to what they are doing. I should have hired a dog Walker to come a few times instead of hiring a sitter. He would not have had to get surgery and we wouldn't be paying $3,000. I'm just thankful that he is recovering well so far.
