I have a fenced in backyard with lots of space to roam around. I usually take my own small dog on a walk every day and if your dogs love walks (or not) either way works! I will follow any feeding and medication schedule as needed.

Depending on the personality I have done it all. My house is full of dog toys to always play with and a backyard to run around in. I also can take a dog on a walk anywhere! I live around a park which is a great spot!
