Pet care experience
In my first summer out of college (where I studied hospitality and business mgmt @ JMU), I fancied myself an entrepreneur and started a dog walking service in my apartment building at home. I had a great time meeting my neighbors and felt much more connected to the community. Unfortunately, Perky Paws (the name of my business haha) only lasted the one summer as I began working at a hotel in my college town and stayed there for the next few years. I was still interested in having animals in my life though, so I continued growing my caregiving skills volunteering at animal shelters and fostering dogs in my own home.
Reviews
Savanna took great care of my fur baby. She sent updates and took good care of the house as well.
Not only is Savanna a fantastic pet friend, she’s a kind human being. She doused my beloved dogs with love and made them super comfortable during her stay. She cleaned up after their messes and kissed their little heads. They loved her, and so do we!
Savanna deserves every star. She is always professional, attentive and gentle with our sweet old doggie. I so appreciate how Savanna sent us photos and updates daily of our pet while we were away, and took great care of our house and property as well. Thank you, Savanna!
Savanna is wonderful with our older dog and took such excellent care of our pet and our home. She is extremely attentive to details, patient and kind. We received fun photos and updates of our pet while we were away, and Savanna is a great communicator. We feel very lucky to have found Savanna on Rover.

In March of 2020 the hotel I was managing in Washington, DC shut down due to Covid and I left the city to quarantine with my brother in Atlanta, GA. They had just had their first girl that month and needed help with childcare since the pandemic changed all of their plans. I lived with them and cared for my niece and their half a dozen animals (4 cats, 2 dogs) for 18 months (after getting vaccinated I left to backpack around Asia for a couple of months).

Anything you think is important to know! I’ve cared for all kinds of animals and have training from the pound I used to volunteer at. In my experience, animals will let you know if they’re not getting something that they need. I pay close attention to details and try to live with loads of compassion so I will notice signs and behaviors that may indicate a necessary course correction.
A typical day
I love to knit (picked this up watching YouTube during quarantine) while hanging out with a furry friend and listening to an audiobook or podcast. I’ll also chat a lot with your pet (I’ve always talked to myself, don’t worry it’s fine) so you don’t have to worry about them feeling too lonely.

I have a remote job I sign onto in the evenings but otherwise my schedule is very flexible. I moved to Richmond with my sister because I had been a nanny for my nephew, but he is in day care now. I am looking for a place of my own in the area and may step out the occasional morning to go house hunting.
