Recent grad who wants to make dogs feel loved during her free time. I've house-sat for a friend with a bulldog and a four-year-old son. I had a dog for a short time, but due to changes in living circumstances can no longer support having a dog. I live with young children who are allergic to dogs and cats, so I cannot personally host dogs in my home at this time. I have been approved to care for dogs outside of the shelter on walks and day trips by DeKalb Animal Shelter / LifeLine Project and have experience interacting with the dogs there. I am friends with dog people, so I often play with dogs in social settings and have always been well-liked by dogs I've met (including ones who are wary of strangers). When approaching a dog, I avoid sudden movements and am attentive to cues that indicate their demeanor and make sure they are open to being touched.
