I had my first dog when I was three years old. My family had a protection trained German shepherd. She was more aggressive than we had hoped she would be so we had to be careful with introducing her to new people and we made sure she had proper training. We had her for 13 years before she passed away. Now my family has a Boykin spaniel, Roan, another German Shepherd, Misha, and a German shepherd mix named Nola. We’ve had them for six years so far and are so happy they’re part of their lives. Nola is a special dog and is on four different medications to help with her seizures so I am used to having to care for a dog that requires proper medical care. While I was still in college and home for the summer, my parents would often be out of town so it was my responsibility to care for three dogs. But when I was back at school, I also helped care for my roommates golden retriever whenever she would be out of town.
